Come on, Semmie, are you really saying that hacking the virtual Wii in the Wii menu of the Wii U, is the same as saying the Wii U is backwards compatible with the Gamecube?
And as far as how many generations to go back, well, the first generation of PS3 played PS2 and PS1 games as well. So if the Wii U is that compatible with the Wii, then it probably should've been, from the factory, compatible with the Gamecube. And Nintendo should've advertised it as such, saying something like "3 systems in one!".
As far as Nintendo selling GC games on the VC, well....if they haven't done it after a year, I don't know that I'd hold my breath. At this point, they should have at least gotten N64 games up and running. They should not be counting on people to go to the Wii menu and then hit the Wii's VC. All this stuff should be on the eShop.

My original xbox can play games from nes, snes, genesis, master system, neo geo, PSX, and several other earlier systems. Of course one has to mod it (via a chip or softmod) to do so... but it still does it.
Hell, some revisions I can even pop in sega cd disks and play them directly, not even an ISO or ROM file. That's even more like true BC than this wii u hack.

The Wii U has Wii hardware in it. The Wii was an overclocked Gamecube. The only issue I can see is emulating and mapping the I/O and storage to the new system.
I said before, Nintendo would be lucky to sell 6 million units by the end of the year. They report they're 200k shy of that number with a full quarter left to do it. Good for them? Other than that, Semmie's an idiot trying to get a playground argument with no logic to uphold the point that Nintendo is somehow doing good right now.
I think they are fully capable of saving themselves at Nintendo. They should abandon the Wii U or reform it into something people want, at a more affordable price.
