Wondering what everyone's thoughts are on this game. The Wii seems like an odd choice considering the gameplay of the original title was built around analogue controls. If these are substituted with motion controls will the charm still be there?

Considering the only thing we know is that it's called NiGHTS 2: Journey Into Dreams, on the Wii, and there's a render of NiGHTS floating around, what really is there to discuss at this point?Quote:

I was a big fan of the original, and I guess you can say that I've been waiting for this game for near 11 years. Maybe I'm just overly excited too soon?
The original planned sequel was going to use a motion sensor plugged into the 3D pad, so it makes perfect sense to put it on Wii now.
I'm pretty jazzed myself. Frankly, I'm just happy to see it happen.
Excellent news, I think NIGHTS would work awesomely with the Wii controller, although I am slightly saddened to see the sequel on a Nintendo console.
Given that SEGA have so far supported all three present-gen consoles equally, I wouldn't be surprised to see a SIXAXIS-using PS3 port after its Wii release.
I love NiGHTS on saturn, it's such a great game, and I still bust it out from time to time. When I heard a new entry was coming to the wii, I don't know, I figured I would be more excited. The game has been rumored for ages, even back on the dreamcast. Now that it's really coming, I'm half skeptical on if they can recapture the magic of the original, and half skeptic that something that has been wanted by so many sega fans will ever live up to the years of hype and anticipation.
I really hope it will be a great game, and I hope it keeps the spirit of the original. But it's got some big shoes to fill.
It's being developed by Sonic Team and not Yuji Naka; that I am not happy about, at all. Also, Sonic Team haven't made a great game since the hardware days.
Yeah, I'm afraid about how this will turn out with the modern Sonic Team at the helm and no involvement from Yuji Naka. It'll either help to revitalize Sega, or be the final nail in the coffin as far as I'm concerned. Though I don't think NiGHTS is the greatest game in the world, it is a classic and to some, a holy grail, so they'd better tread lightly.
I've never played the original NiGHTS but I've heard nothing but great things about it. It is a Saturn title I'd like to add to my collection.
I'll bet many fans had to change their shorts after hearing this news. :D

All you talking heads should know that Naka was merely the producer and not the director and brainchild that Naoto Oshima was for the original Saturn Project.
Oshima left Sega as well though. . .
The only prominent member of the design team still present would be Takeshi Iizuka, who was the Lead Designer for the original game.
But it is also worth noting that Iizuka was the director of Shadow and Sonic Adventure 2.
He also directed Sonic Adventure 1, and Sonic Heroes. . .but those games seem like flukes since they were actually quality products (IMHO anyway).
In any case, he seems to value NiGHTS if past interviews have been any indication.
So I'm guessing he won't try to jazz things up with guns, teams, needless characters or shitty levels.
IMO NiGHTS was a mediocre game, saved only by its technical prowess - it'll be interesting what they can do with limited (not on a Saturn scale, of course) hardware like the Wii.
