Are they going to release a ROM?
Are they going to release a ROM?
It looks like they've tried to turn the thunder force intro into a game!?!
Looks pretty slow but pretty graphics

"Outer space is not empty. There's lots of stuff to blow up, including you".
So, new promo poster, demo will be presented at RetroBarcelona, probably the 2nd biggest retro/indie event in Spain (RetroMadrid is still bigger, I think).

Ordering from these guys is like playing the roulette wheel. You might get something, you might not.
looks amazing
I still to get this as soon as it's available for pre order. Someone please alert me when it is.
I think I just came in my pants.
It hapened that Chui and I gave a little speech about Pier Solar...
Oh yeah, 1985Alternativo gave one too :P

I tried the demo. Looks and feels nice enough. Tough as sh*t if you ask me, but I'm no expert player.
Dunno the actual status of the game but i really hope they'll take their time + take notice of good advices if required in order to release something interesting & not, as it was already implied, "just" a tech-demo.
Anyway some thoughts :
- The alternative scrollings can be a good formula since, as it seems, the vertical stages don't turn as horrible as those in Axelay (i.e. the kind of vertical scaling is NOT applied on enemy sprites).
- The game runs in low-res or the ship is really that big during horizontal stages?!
- If you incl. inertia in ship's movements please let us the possibility to remove this in the options menu (There are only very few cases of shooters which work well with inertia).
- ... Oh &, talking about this, don't forget an options menu with all necessary stuff incl. a sound test, it's one of the Mega Drive's trademarks.
- & finally, including a kind of scoring system, even if it's something minor, would be great!
Anyway it's an awesome project, i wish you the best.
Or even better : Bari-Arm or Hyper Duel.
Oversize ship sprites and inertia are trademarks of the Euroshmup, I hear shops are popular too.
Let's hope they don't go down that road. There is no logical reason to have ship inertia in a 2D shooter in 2015.
Cant wait to learn more, I remember hearing about this quite a while ago, nice to know there's still some possibility of seeing it come together.
That part reminds me a lot of the Axelay demo CCovell did on the SGX. In one of the other videos, there's a rotating cylinder background layer in one stage. SC4 isn't what pop'd into my mind when I saw that, metamor jupiter canon/gun stage did :D These effects are great, but I hope they're saving the best for last (more unique stuffs). Design looks great so far, too. I was wondering when a shmup like this was gonna make its way to MD homebrew scene. I wonder no longer :D
I really like the way they designed the background layer in that scene. The animation is quite seamless. I always figured that a new shooter was bound to makes it's way to the Mega Drive one of these days. If you think about it, there are quite a sizable amount of members on the forum who enjoy the genre, myself included. :D
Soo... have there been any news regarding this project?
A Battery system to save the Score Ranking would be AMAZING!!!
^ indeed! Must be added to my previous list.
The only thing i can say about Antarex is that they moved to the XGM driver for the music / sound department but except that...
I believe some MD games already used 4 PCM channels (Duke Nukem 3D, Skitchin and probably others) but they did with limited sampling rate and/or limited sample size ;)
I don't know how I've missed this thread for over a year. Just watched the first video in the original post. Looks really cool, but slow. Look forward to seeing what the finished product looks like.
So when we see effects like the ones shown in the videos and the Wolfenstien 3d build (ones that were supposed to never be possible on the Genesis / tricky to do), it always puts a smile on my face.
I've got high hopes for this one though, just for the simple fact there's more games coming out for the Genesis/Mega Drive! I hope the developers are ready peoples post and input to make it the best they can.
So will this game be NTSC compatible or will it do stuff that depends on the system running at PAL speeds?
Honestly i don't know, it's not always pretty obvious when they did it but i though Comix Zone was using the GEMS driver which should limit to single PCM only (or maybe they are using a custom version).
Contra Hard Corps uses 4 PCM channels.
Polo Solo uses 2.
Yeah, I can't remember how I found out about it. Probably from someone who knows a lot about the sound hardware. My guess is the game uses 1 channel for percussion, 1 for voice, and 2 for sound effects. That driver also has an interesting feature, which alters pitch of the samples constantly.
