The Toy Collecting Thread

We'll see how this goes...

I'm assuming that many of you, like me, run across an awful lot of toys while you're out game hunting. Lately I've begun rescuing figures from swap meets and Goodwill bargain bins; mainly just the toys that fall within the brackets of my childhood years.

Now I don't have a "collection," per se, nor do I intend to have one, but here are a few examples of the curiosities I've begun to lining my shelves with over the past few months.

Unicron and 1990 Bart Simpson figure:

Original Taun Taun and 1997 re-release Star Wars figures (I quite like these; the figures they are selling today are made of horribly rubbery plastic and are annoyingly over-articulated, whereas these figures still maintain the quaintness of the original figures' sparce articulation while boasting some excellent sculpting. If you can't afford to collect the original figures, this line is the next best thing, IMHO):

Anyway, that's a start.

Damn I want those Tracy figures!! I have a few cheesy figures hiding in strange places in my apartment. A small but nicely detailed robocop points a gun at you if you go poking around in my cereal cabinets. My buddy on a visit recently gave me a small godzilla figure that is definitly some kind of cheap asian knockoff, he sit atop my fridge next to a real taxidermied piranha. The fake zilla looks very silly and not very intimidating. I have a large noise activated Kool Aid Man who dances w his purple guitar. Capn Danger stunt monkey that I purchased from Archie Mcfee.com(definitly worth a look if u like burning $ on silly gag items and toys etc), its a monkey in a track suit w a nice working parachute. Also from archie mcfee a donkey cigarette holder, if you lift his tail a cig comes out his butt. A wwf kamalha action figure. Thats all I can think of atm, I know I have several others hiding out in various places around the apt.
One of these days I'm going to track down a Food Fighters action figure. Had em back in the day and they were awesome.

I have a few transformers, re-release Prowl (had and broke him as a kid), Macross Veritech (VF1-J), MP3 Soundwave, re-release (modernised) Thundercracker & Starscream, Masterpiece "Ghost" Starscream, a few others. Rest is mostly lego Technic/Star Wars/mini-figs...

According to my collection tracking, I have 5 more Transformers toys than video games. :huh:

@mr matthews: If you have a fish tank you can hook that "quasi action figure from the 80's" up to your bubbler. ;D

I just have a bag full of broken 80's toys of all kinds. I pick them out of thrift stores when i see them. I once had a decent Transformers collection but sold when I got poor.

I wouldn't have recognized this figure if it weren't for Ashens, who often trots out old 80s toys on YouTube. According to him, these were toys for fairly youngish kids and all the figures were in roughly the same stance; slightly bent knees, the right hand held up as if holding a soda can, and the other held downward like they're pushing a shopping cart.

I assume the flag float doubles as a pump for making bubbles. You can still hook him up to a fish tank bubbler though.
