My Mega Everdrive Problems

1) Updated to o/s 9 : firmware 3 (thanks assman) - I can't get Chilly Willy Wolfenstein 32 x to work anymore, or Echo 32 x demo, or Egypt 32 x demo. His yetido (fps) game works though. In regular everdrive s ram can be turned off to make it work, but where is "s ram off" option on mega ed ? Look at my avatar for my setup.

2) How do I put all sega cd bios in my sega cd from mega everdrive ?

3) I pause game, yet no menu screen to save or load states pops up.

4) It has 10 mb, yet I can't play a 7 mb bad apple video ? I can play the 2 part bad apple video on mega ed with 32 x and sega cd plugged in though.

5) Sees wavs I put on sd, but when I play them it's a crackle and noise. What audio files actually play from sd on a model 1 ?

6) Why does it keep changing from multi region to jap region to ntsc region automatically and change upon turning on or off.

7) Mega Everdrive is an 8000 block sega cd ram too or ?

Other than that, using my gumo 32gb scan sdhc card for it is cool, almost all roms work ( cant get Yuu Yuu Hakusho - Makyou Toitsusen (J) to work), very fast loading, I have 100 of my fav roms and 500 of my wav music on that sd card.

I have all my roms in just 2 folders for each system (21 text line limit on ed game menu) numbered like 01 master system a-m, 02 master system n-z, 03 genesis 1 a-z and etc nice and organized, only the "mega" (o/s) and "music" folder are oddball folders under sega ones.

But I would like to get the other stuff straightened out.

Okay, I'll try it. Should I make a Bios Folder and have all 3 regions bios roms in it, in sd card ?

Does your console have a region mod? Flash carts can only identify the setting, not change it.
Region locked games working on a "wrong" mode means they're being patched in some way.

Down+start is what triggers the in-game menu, but I'm pretty sure you can't access it with a 32X attached. It might also be turned off by default in the options.

You can't play those huge ROMs with a Sega CD or 32X attached. They take up the same address space that the larger ROMs would use.

I have no idea how many blocks it is, but if you go into the Sega CD memory manager with the Mega ED inserted, you should see the RAM cart options.

Thanks Assman, I didn't know the mega everdrive couldn't perform some of those things, with 32 x and sega cd attached, bummer. Have answers to my other questions ?

Went into Everdrive options, clicked run cd (of course my sega cd is attached), hit b button during scd startup instead of start, clicked scd options (you know from the "music menu like thing/Sega CD memory manager)", formatted Everdrive ram for scd, said 8189 blocks from Everdrive (now a scd ram cart) + 114 internal blocks.

Then I guess that's how many blocks it is. I'm not sure exactly what else you want to know with that.

I don't really have any other answers, that's why I only answered what I did. I think I remember seeing the region change arbitrarily like that on mine, but it didn't seem to have any kind of effect like starting a ROM under the wrong region or anything, so I just ignored it.

Ok. Well also the mega ed claims to play wavs, yet all 500 wavs (recorded as wavs) I have on the sd don't play (they are 44.1 hz I guess that problem as md is only 22 hz) ? They show up, but if you try to play it's nothing but static. Perhaps because 32x is attached ?

Went through all 9 pages nothing helped. That forum is useless, maybe theres some threads with krikzz and others from HERE answering questions, like 3 post thread but that's it not very helpful.

I guess to make sega cd region free I just throw all 3 bios on sd card ? Not in a folder ? Just slap on sd card or in MEGA folder or ? And these are the 3 yes ?

I guess actual wavs (44.1 hz) won't play or perhaps won't in o/s later than 3.

Edit. I'm right, anybody know of a converter that can turn 44.1 hz wavs into 8 BIT 22 HZ WAVS ?

Put the BIOS files wherever you want, it doesn't matter. You can put 'em in a folder called "YAY FOR MONKEY DICKS" if you want. You run them exactly like you would a Genesis ROM, so there's nothing special you need to do.

Those are probably the right files if you have a model 1 CD, but it doesn't hurt to drop every BIOS you can find on there just in case some weird combination works where the obvious one wouldn't. There's also the 'Russell region free CD BIOS' out there somewhere which was originally made to be used on the standard Everdrive.

Anybody know how to convert 44.1 wavs to 8 bit 22 hz wavs so I can listen to music on my mega ed/md ?

Also my mega ed now has v9 o.s but v3 firmware, how do I update it to firmware ? Because I beard all in 1 sega cd bios only works with firmware 12 or above,

That would be for the original Everdrive, not the Mega ED. It uses completely different hardware, a completely different OS and completely different firmware. I don't even think there's been a new firmware release for the Mega ED since it came out. You need to pretty much ignore anything and everything you've read about the standard ED in terms of figuring out what you can and can't do with a Mega ED. There's a reason they have different support forums and download sections on the main site.

I really think you're spending way too much time prepping for this. Just drop some shit on the SD card and fire it up with a foreign disc in the drive. If it works, it works; if it doesn't, then you can dig for answers.
