Hi there... i am back again ^-^
after a long time repairing / upgrading my Amstrad / Sega Mega PC, i could finaly make this Video... unfortunately it's without sound and in not so good quality,
but i still shows, what you can make with the Amstrad / TeraDrive...
The Info's are just in german, but if you want i can translate it, as best as i can.
It looks cool. What upgrades did you make? Play Mega CD games on it mayhaps :p?
Cool. Does it run as soon as you insert a cartridge?
To me it looked like you were pulling out cartridges with the power on.
he was.. they have a trigger in the cartridge port to automatically switch on the Genesis board when a cartridge is inserted.Quote:

The cartridge switch has to move with the cartridge, also having tension from being "L" shaped, by a spring.. That can break it, and being the kind of switch it is, a "momentary" switch, it can get lose and fail over time..
You could design it so that the cartridge is part of the switch. Plug in the cartridge and it completes the circuit allowing power to the console (no moving parts). Of course if the cart gets too dirty then not only will you need to clean the regular contacts, but the metal power contacts as well. Still, shouldn't be a problem unless you have a loose-fitting cart.
the only way would that have worked, is if the cartridge say, had atleast 2 pins dedicated to this. Sure, it would have worked, they'd also have to have the system delay the power..Quote:

Thats my actual project, normaly it need a special cart to boot and a cable to connect the sega cd... there is the possibility that it will run with a custom made cable from a friend and the datel cdx import adapter.Quote:

normaly these parts are no problem but the Amstrad Mega PC is a little small in the inside ^-^

Yesterday a got a new MS Dos 6.22... i hope it will fit with the Windows 3.1
A little strange is the fact, that the AMPC does not run Mega Probotector (Pal)... i hope i can fix this problem with the magic key 3.
I hope i can run Games like Snatcher someday on it.. it has the best Screen quality then all the other sega machines, better then my modded genesis with rgb cable; much better
The trigger is in the moveable front of the pc ( with the puyo puyo stickers on it) when its on the left, the pc mode is on, on the right, the mega driveQuote:

evildragon if they used a trigger which the cartridge pressed when inserted thus providing power, it would also have to have a short delay. I agree this is not the best way to do things and a regular human-controlled switch is MUCH preferred. But whether the switch has moving parts or not makes no difference as to how fast the system is powered up, since the cart will probably be at the end of its insertion movement in both cases. But what I was thinking of two pins on the bottom of the cart that wouldn't touch until fully inserted, not just more pins where the rest of the cart pins are.
