You should be shot for treason against Spider-Man.

I always wanted to play the Spider-Man Animated Series game for the SNES just to see if it's any different than the Genesis version, but I guess it's hard to come by. I don't even know if it's good.
Well, it's better than the Genesis one. Not that that's saying much. The SNES game is pretty rubbish, whereas the Genesis version is utter rubbish.
Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro isnt as good as the first one because the villains arent as good and its a shorter game.
Spider-Man Friend or Foe for PS2 isnt that bad. Its ridiculously easy which hurts it but it lets you play as the villians which is very fun.
Spider-Man for the Genesis felt a bit too limited so I appreciate what the Sega CD version tried to do by giving you more and making the game feel more "complete."
Love the old Sega arcade game. Unique beat em up for its era because of the scaling although I do question the character choices like why was Hawkeye there.
Web of Fire for 32X didnt spend much time with it but something about it seemed a bit off. The animation and the way you moved didnt quite feel right.
i didnt say it was bad just that its ...forgettable
Spider-Man ( PSX, N64, DC, and PC) Anyone whos played all 4 versions how would you rank them ?
i only played the ps dc and n64 versions
cant imagine how it would be on the pc
the camera is diabolical on all 3 versions
the n64 versions lookswashed out and soft with lots of fog and building popping up
the dc version looks the sharpest and is probably the best version
not too far off the mark for me, i wish i got into Ultimate like some others did, i wanted to.
genesis one & maximum carnage were neat, i really did find the Sega-CD one ambitious at the time - voice acting was a mixed bag but some brought a solid effort for the era, plus the open levels were like this proto-sandbox type of game which i thought interesting.
The PSX (DC = definitive edition natch) one was a great step in the right direction, great fanservice all around & just an enjoyable title. i'd wanted to do a thread/cast on this but as a comic fan, trying to make you feel like the character is about the highest goal of a comic property game, i think; to that end, Spider-Man 2's web physics were about as important for spidey fans as say Arkham Asylum's stealth stuff for batman fans: it's the most accurate representation of that character's skillset & still enjoyable, like Hulk: Ultimate Destruction.
but yeah, there's an awful lot of shit with spidey's name slapped on to it, X-Men too. i don't rate too terribly much before Mutant Apocalypse, myself.
This needs to be adressed. Kids loved animated cutscenes back then and in a game based on a comic book they were a welcome addition. They could have been better done but unecessary, no. You had to have them to show off what the Sega CD could do that the Genesis couldnt. Also the game really needed those extra levels because the Genesis version had some really short levels that felt incomplete. Im especially talking about the level with Sandman which you just basically go from one end of the screen to the other and thats it. They also added extra moves and an awesome soundtrack. I honestly cant even play the Genesis version anymore knowing the Sega CD version exsists.
For me, the major problem with the Sega CD version is that all the stages that are not part of the boss area are useless.
You can collect the comics but, unlike the first 3D title, they do nothing for the game. However, it's still considerably better than the MD one.
I forgot the arcade game, it's a good beat'em up. I always wondered what Namor was doing there, maybe because of this they put his profile on the PSX title that you can see after unlock all on the game. Who knows...
You remember the Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends cartoon ? That had Iceman and Firestar and they would have made more sense than having Namor and Hawkeye.
You know who would've made even more sense? Daredevil and Human Torch, both good friends of Spider-Man in the comics. Now that would've been sweet.
^id still kill for a DD game, closest we got was Web of Fire (yuck)
oh yeah, that's prolly his best appearance so far, easily! i really should pick those up sometime, played the crap out of them in the day but got sick of the engine (so many X-men Legends games, then those)...MUA2 was disappointing but now it's hard as balls to find too. also i could be remembering wrong but i wanna say DD cameo'd in Maximum Carnage? i know Cap did.

Actually, this would be more accurate.

Sorry I'm a little late; but, how can someone dislike Spiderman Vs. The kingpin on the Sega CD over the Genesis counterpart? Everything about the Sega CD version is simply superior.
^The Genesis version is one I had as a cartridge, so I'd probably show favoritism there, but I never tried(and most likely never will) the Sega CD version. So for me, the Genesis version is just going to have to be good enough, if I ever feel the urge to play it again.
He said the cutscenes were awful and unecessary and the new levels were repetitive and just there to make the game bigger. I responded with the game needed more levels and whether they were more repetitive than the standard levels was debatable. The cutscenes had to be there to show the SEGA CD's power and its based on a comic book so the cut scenes to me were necessary not unecessary.
the cutscenes were MASTERFUL and TIMELESS and frankly the OPEN WORLD BITS collecting COMIC BOOKS were like a preview of GTA in 1993, i will hear no more of you poeple's complaints
also you could let kingpin dump MJ into ACID
I kind of have to agree. The extra levels on Sega CD's Spider-Man vs. Kingpin seemed really shoddy and the cutscenes weren't very good quality. Even so, it was still more fun than the Genesis original, and it was really cool to have Vulture, Mysterio, Bullseye, and Typhoid Mary thrown into the mix. Makes the bomb bit quite a bitch to play through, though.
You know, I'm pretty sure it's the only game Typhoid Mary's ever appeared in.
damn, i don't even remember her crazy ass being in there...just got it back a few weeks ago, time for a replay!
Oh, she's in there. Right after the bomb, you fight Bullseye followed by Typhoid Mary, then comes the big one with Kingpin.
It's funny when you think about it. Bullseye and Typhoid Mary would never work together as Kingpin's personal assassins. It's either one or the other, or there was also Elektra at one point for a very short time. Maybe Kingpin makes a quick phone call after you whoop Bullseye and Mary gets on the scene in .02 seconds.
Meh, it's a video game. Who cares about the whys? Just bring on the gauntlet.
that's how i felt by the end of the DC spider-man, too!
"Doc Ock working in cahoots with Carnage? WTF?"
"Oh, Carnage Octopus. AWESOME."
