Panic kicks ass. The Japanese version of Super Fantasy Zone is also in English... at least when played on a Genesis. All the cool kids own the Japanese version (I did a survey among cool kids). Popful Mail is also great except the bitch runs too damn close to the edge of the screen. Great music generated from the Genesis in that game.
As ever, a great selection. Nice to see Ecco II being given it dues - that game is awesome.
Yeah, it was a nice read as usual. I'll probably buy Super Fantasy Zone and try out Panic.
Nice to see two games that hold in high regard sonic 3d and light crusader getting the praise they deserve. Both of them actually get slated for similar reasons ie the isometric view and awkwardness of controls. But they're both actually really fun to play. Also light crusader is a very nice addition to any rpg md/genesis collection, its blend of action and puzzles are quite different to most.
I would recommend anyone to add it to their collection along with "soliel" which i believe is "soldier of centy" in the states or something to that effect.

Nice to see Light Crusader getting some attention. I used to play it all of the time. Actually, I was even coordinating with someone who was writing an FAQ for it, as I had some of the most detailed information available for the game back whenever I played it. I should start playing it again. I never could find the Dillo Armor that somebody had accessed via hacks. That's the only item that I could never find.
Yeah, Light Crusader really is an insanely awesome game. Or it would be if it didn't have a few control issues. But still.

Hey Elusive, do you have a sister? Trade her for Panic! Or a house? Who needs a house when you have Panic! Or maybe you have a college degree? If it's in Theater, it's useless anyway, so might as well trade it for some Panic! And if it's in something else, well... you get the picture. Trade it. But you're not getting my copy - my brother, where ever he is, would have wanted me to keep it...
Anyway, I got Light Crusader for about three bucks new at FYE about ten years ago. It was an entertaining romp for what I paid, but nothing really stands out about it. If you like action/RPGs, it's worth about $10 used, I'd say.
Light Crusader has a pretty cool magic system, if not a limited one. What really set it apart for me was the variety of the environments, as well as the often-challenging puzzles. And how about Julia Child-style voiceover work? Good stuff. Looking for hidden items was always interesting, as well, in my opinion. I paid $15 for it, I believe, and I felt that it was a very good purchase. I was obsessed with that game for quite a while. I have a notebook full of notes for the game.
I'll agree that it was short, (although for that matter what makes a game 'too short? If it's a quality piece of work being longer or shorter doesn't change the fact that it's quality) but no atmosphere? Atmosphere was one of the main things that it had. For what it is, I find it's the perfect length, just enough puzzles and demons to keep you satisfied I find. Definitely have to agree with Kevinski, it was quite rewarding too, tailing off to a dead end in the dungeon but then you'd get a class sword for your troubles. Top stuff really...
Except for the fact that the hero seems to have some amazing ability to push objects and people around the room like they're on a chess board without them giving a damn, always ruined the tense mood for me:daze:
