Haha, thanks. It did indeed suck. $169.95 for SNES SSFII, $159.95 for MD MK, $159.95 for MD SFII, $125 for SoRII. You get the idea. The biggest joke of all was Virtua Racing which retailed for $199.95!! I bought the Japanese version for $129.95.
The most expensive games I remember before the "big name" big meg carts (PSIV was 24meg but only $99.95, prices were never really based on ROM size but name and popularity) were PSII for $129.95 and Wonderboy in Monsterland for $119.95. I suppose they were priced so high because of the "battery back-up". I got Wonderboy for my birthday in '92 :D. Damn I love that game. Nincrapo always liked charging a $10 premium over MD prices for their shitty PAL games, not sure how they justified that. System prices were even worse, sometimes nearly 3 times as much as the US paid. We didn't even have the option of imports really. The bastards that distributed for SEGA made it very difficult for any shop that sold imports because they were so much cheaper than our games. Nincrapo joined in once they set up shop in 93 or so. If a shop was known to sell imports, both companies would refuse to sell them stock which of course killed off imports.
