I have an idea for this game, where you shoot things, and get shot at. Yeah.
I've had a few ideas... but I forgot most of them.
I have a few ideas a-brewin' for two puzzle games and a team-based 2D run'n'gun. They're still nothing more than ideas, though, as my knowledge of programming is lackluster at best. I used to have a great time throwing shit together in Games Factory, and actually came up with three neat little games, two of which can be seen here (http://tzvault.tripod.com/gallery/trancer.html) and here (http://tzvault.tripod.com/gallery/nightshift.html). The other was a 2-player cannon-based Pong, for lack of a better description. Sadly I can't get any of them to work anymore, so all that remains of them are these screenshots.. oh well, no loss, really.
What about you, StRiDA? Have any brilliant game concepts?
yes my freind I do
1. fighting game, cross between Eternal Champions and MK:Deception
2. a shmup with brutal difficulty and a very uniqe weapon system
3.a funny RPG thats sort of like River City Ransom
and those drixxel are just some game ideas I have up my sleeve :)
StRiDA, you might be interested in downloading a program called The Games Factory (http://www.clickteam.com/English/tgf.htm). It's a very cool bit of software that would work as a great introduction to game creation, as it requires no knowledge of programming languages. It takes awhile to figure out what all of the commands allow you to do, but the trial version of the program comes with several guided tour demos that help to educate. You can draw and animate sprites in the program itself, keeping everything self-contained. I had a lot of fun messing around with The Games Factory years ago, and came up with some fairly respectable products. Anyways.. enough of this sales pitch. Just thought it might be worthwhile checking out.
thanx
hey, in the future if I makr games, you could work with me
Sure, if you need help with something, I'll do what I can. I used to draw a lot.. don't so much anymore, but I've been meaning to get back into it. I'm half-decent with animation, but it's just a question of finding the time and motivation as most of my free time is divided between guitar and gaming. You can check out some o' my drawings here if you feel up to it: http://drixxel.deviantart.com/
So isn't that basically the same thing as learning a programming language? Except it's a proprietary one.Quote:

Sort of.. it's highly simplified compared to something like C, or hell, any programming language for that matter, but still confusing enough for there to be a decent learning curve. There's no typing into a blank console. It's far more visual, and as such far easier to work out the relationships between commands and such. You can do a lot with The Games Factory if you understand it, yet its incredibly user friendly compared to a traditional programming language. You clearly don't have as much freedom then as you would with something like C++, but that's the price of simplicity.Quote:

I have MANY, MANY ideas, but I am afraid to say them, because I have given MANY HOURS of thought into each one!
I too, want to make games later in my life, and I will get a nice headstart with that one my deadbeat Dad pays me the 7 thousand he owes me in child support  .
StRiDA, you can join up with me if you want, as I can use all the help I can get!
I guess I can tell you my least favorite idea that I have made as long as you don't steal it!
Picture a 3D Mario game that plays less like 3D Mario, and more like 2D Mario. You know, growing, skipping, the works. Also with comedy like South Park & Family Guy mixed into the free-roaming world. and instead of a lame-ass water-hose, you get a flamethrower, jet-pack in some of the missions, so you can burn down cities, and stuff!
DON'T STEAL IT! even though it's my least liked idea, I still spent hours on it!
ummm... is that sarcasm?Quote:

But it will have some amazing weapons, plot twists, and the city will be very interactive. and the plot is very important to the game, not some after thought
If you've played the city levels of Halo 2, it's kind of like that, but not overrated trash. :D
