The media are a reflection of the inanity of our lives. Who was the wise ass who invented 24/7 news anyway? That said, should we apply Occam's razor to this "mystery", it's obvious that a sudden catastrophic failure led to the demise of the craft and its passengers before a mayday could be sent out. Was it a A2A missile, a lithium-ion-induced fire, a freak accident involving a cosmic ray? We might never know. But why is everyone obsessed for so long? Oh right.. Back in 2009 we didn't have everyone babooning over smartphones and twitters and all that shit, and in this frenzy the traditional outlets are feeding into this idiotic vicious cycle of useless verbose junk.

I dunno. There are certainly oddities and peculiarities that make this a bit more interesting than just "plane crashed". And of course the lack of hard evidence leads to all sorts of shit. Had they found the wreckage right around where it should have been on a normalish flight path, even if they had no idea WTF happened, I don't think there would be as much coverage of it.

You are right the circumstances are strange and unusual. I've seen a lot of theories tossed around about what happened. The media prioritize this correctly.

You bring up a point though, I mean.. there has been talk of Aliens being responsible for the 370 disappearing, and now Oderus "dies".

About the death of Dave Brockie. Most people wouldn't care. If you're a fan of his, than you would care to know more. Pretty simple. That doesn't affect very many people. Just his family, friends, and fans. Nor is it exactly interesting to most people.

Most people aren't interested in anything beyond their genitalia. Even those who follow world affairs are often dumb as bricks. Read the comments on social media below BBC News items or similar outlets.

And that comment about media and priorities got a chuckle from me. When was the last time a mainstream network did any serious investigative reporting on sensitive issues? The days of Watergate are far gone for US media in particular. I tend to tune in to CSpan nowadays, it gives assholes from all sides equal time to spew their bullshit.

Half those idiots just blame Obama or liberals for their problems, when it's not even what is being talked about at all (especially in places that would make you vomit violently like a tragedy). I've seen these comments. This is nothing new (used to be all Bush's fault for unrelated things). Investigative reporting? Well it's mostly media speculating, I don't think it's changed much, probably gotten a lot worse over the years. Most people in the media usually don't check their facts (usually human nature) and like to cause drama in people's life. I don't spend hours with the news on and take most things I hear with a grain of salt. Most media companies want to sell a story that gets a lot of ratings. People can hear straight from the source in the day of social media if their able to connect to what matters to them, if they want, bypassing the media altogether. The media has never been completely honest, even probably back than (they just could get away with it more easily). Most people will hear what they want to hear anyway, no matter how many times you explain to them that's how it really is. It's all big business now and pretty much all of them bought out by bigger companies.

It's unfortunately they have to do with the media harassing them. I want those families to have the closure they deserve. I think everyone has a right to know what went wrong and if this tragedy can be better avoided in the future. The truth eventually comes out.

This particular story was much more unusual than "plane disappears". Someone intentionally disables the transponder, takes the airplane under the radar and changes course for no apparent reason. Then it crashes many hours later. That certainly deserves some scrutiny.

Well so far a crash hasn't been proven. Malaysia has been said to not giving out all the information like they have something to hide. And then "Australia" (it was actually a US company) found some stuff floating in the ocean and Malaysia goes "welp that's it, that's the plane, case closed." wtf
