Depends on the screen. I replaced the standard screen with an lcd + tims gg tv convertor and it used more power than the stock screen. Looks awesome with SMS games though.
I am still to redo the gg with the ndsi backlight.

Finally did a battery replacement on my Game Gear pack, seems to work fine after just taking out the old one and dropping in the new one.
