A forum member has told me of another service manual (Gen 2 VA3).
He won't ship to Australia so if someone else wants to run with this one, I would donate a couple of bucks.
Cheers Pete

WOW. I'm really interested in this one as it's the last revision with a 5660 ASIC and thus the last revision to handle discrete YM2612s/YM3438s.
I hope some American member can help us.
It is buy it now. If an American old mate volunteers to do it, I will donate $20au (so what? $18us?) to the cause.
If you guys can pull the money together and send it to me via paypal, the total amount needed, and agree on who to have me ship it to after it arrives to me, I can pick it up for you.
I would gladly donate $10US to the cause.
Ok anybody else want to chip in?
Are there no reshipping options available through AU post? NZpost has a service that will accept mail in the US and send it on to an NZ address - pretty handy for stuff like this!
I am only keen to donate, not to scan and upload.
Like I said, if you guys can pull enough together to cover the item and the shipping cost to whomever you need it to go to, lmk. I can also scan it and send copies via email to the donors. I have a Canon MG2120 scanner here. It handles B&W and greyscale documents fine. If you need to confirm who I am for feedback reasons, you can find me on PcengineFX forum under the ProfessorProfessorson id, or on ebay under same id name.
Cheers matey, getting it sent here would be nuts. Probably cost half again in shipping. Just bought a new house so can't afford to fund it myself.
So, has anybody decided who will buy it and who will scan it? The item ends in 4 days.
I would offer to buy it and scan it.
Too bad im not in USA. I can donate 20$.
Should be bought asap before it gets bought by some greedy collector and disappears forever.
I am American and have a scanner.
I don't know how you see it happening, if I was the one to buy It I would just buy it and then ask people to contribute what they can then release it.
That is basically because I can afford the 100$ in the short term and really want the thing released.
Professor professorson was basically asking for all the money before he bought it.
What about you?
I can still contribute.
Yeah he could at least sell to Canada :p Shipping Canada-USA is very reliable.
I think some of them Muricans might just be lazy ;)
One wanted me to pay 20$ extra to ship to Canada for the "extra work" he had to do to ship outside usa. That was on top of the shipping fee.
It's because ebay requires tracking anymore for shipping outside of the US if you want seller protection, and also, having to take time out to travel down to the post office eats up time, energy, and gas cost. It makes sellers who want to run streamlined not want to bother. I'm a regular seller on ebay, and other then today to go drop off a package going to a friend in Canada, I have not had to personally go to a local USPS office since last November or so because I don't sell internationally anymore, due in part to heavy fraud in my past experience for myself and others I know (mainly fake buyers coming out of Russia, South America and Italy, but it happens elsewhere too, even locally). But the main reason is because of the time involved to ship internationally.
I pay for shipping at home and schedule pick ups here once or twice a week. Ebay does offer some new service now, I am not sure if it is available to every seller though. It's where if you want to allow overseas customers but don't want to have to deal with the shipping part of it, ebay can act as a go between/forwarding service like Tenso.
I don't know if it cost extra on the buyers part to do though, as I am not taking part in that program yet and have not looked into it enough. As stated prior though, if you guys can come up with the total amount, plus however much it would be to ship it to the desired person you want the manual to go to, I can act as a go between on this. If you want it scanned in advance and have the scans sent to the donors, I can do that too. I can't do something like this too often though, because of the time involved, so don't consider the offer to be always open/available any time this comes up. Just consider it a one shot deal.
I can understand all that, I do not hold it against you guys ;)
Americans are lucky in that they have a big local market so they can afford to only ship local and get rid of the hassle of international shipping. I sell plenty on ebay too and I have to offer international shipping or I would barely sell anything. Canada is a pretty small market with 10 times less people than USA. Plus, shipping fees here are pretty high so I have to sell low. Recently Canada post started forcing us to find a code for items and write those on the package. Talk about a hassle, suppose I sell a music CD, I have to go on Canada Post site and search their database for the code for music CD and then write that on the package.
On the bright side I live 2 min from the Post office :p [/whining]
Ill send PM about the manual.
Pm replied to. :)
I'm still in for the $10. Wish I could do more it's just bad timing.
Ok people. I have made arrangements to purchase the Manual. So far all the fees are assumed by me.
Once I receive the manual I will start a fund raiser. I am looking to recover at least 50% of my investment.
When I have received sufficient fund ( I expect this will be in the 60-70$ range) I will release the manual.
Sorry to be holding it hostage, I really want this released for the community but on the other end I do not want to assume all the cost myself.
Considering the amount is not too big I hope this should be doable. I accept the risk anyway.
If you want to donate to the fund raiser just PM me but you might want to wait until I have the manual just in case.
Rest assured that you can trust me with your donations.
I will report here once I have the manual :)
Good work! I'll pitch in with a little bit.
Already have some donation come in. Unless contributors ask to be anonymous I can make a list of all those who contributed in the end.
Btw I wonder If this might contain data about the 315-5700, hmmm.
I'll chip in.
Donations so far : 37.28 USD thank you guys :)
Just donated to the cause so it should be a bit higher now.
Donations so far 57.28 USD!
What do we need before it's released? plus I'm sure you're still waiting on it to arrive.
Well, I bought it through a proxy buyer. I do not know yet the total shipping price yet. I will announce as soon as I have the manual.
Well done team!
Donations are now a total of 67.28 USD.
I do not yet have the total for shipping cost but I hope to have that information in under a week.
The proxy buyer have received the manual.
It will be shipped a bit later.
Looks like my total fees will be a bit under 130$. I may need to pay for scanning service for the two page wide schematics.
At this point we already reached the 50% donation goal so I will release the manual as soon as possible.
Of course some more donation is still appreciated. ^.^
I will post again when I have the manual in my hands.
I will try to make a nice PDF package, with OCR text if possible.
I may need some advice as I have never done that before.
I will say having access to the A3 scanner made life easier.....
Yeah how they had the schematics printed in this manual was via two page foldouts. Normally on a issue like that I could just flip the thing vertically and scan the pages that way, with the blank sides on the paper not being scanned. That wouldn't have been too big a deal if not for the fact that the ones in this manual cover too much area on the pages to be scanned as a whole. I was able to scan them per page in a high resolution in advance for MaxWar (so he would have a copy of it in advance of mailing out to protect the investment), but just not as one giant piece.
So anyway, as it is right now it would take extra work to make them appear as one giant schematic for a proper release. Only ones I was able to do like that, full scans as one piece for MaxWar, were the main board top and bottom view diagrams. Anyway yeah I will be hitting USPS on Friday and mailing it out to him. If you guys can you should try to donate a bit more to help him cover cost better. It will be worth it for anyone interested in preserving this stuff.
After what I donated I am out. Just forked out $6k for a solar system for the house lol!
You donation was much appreciated Omp :)
I was actually feeling bad that I had not contributed for the other batch of service manuals, especially since I used them.
Now I finally repented myself. XD
I wont beg or spam around forums but getting a little more sure would be nice :p
I'll hit you up with another donation because I'm feeling generous. :)
What happened about this? Did the manual arrive to you MaxWar?
