Dat thing.
It is lacking information on some of the more subtle technicalities. But still... if all else fails it can be used as a 1TB external HDD. Anyone tried that thing?

Interesting find. I am looking for a solution to record RGB-SCART myself and this might be an option...
I also like the "press a button and record" aspect. I got some Oldish computer that I can use to record old games with S-video but it is a hassle to get everything going and it has a history of crashing while doing long records.
If you buy this, please report back with the results of your video game recording. The "Europe only" disclaimer concerns me, but if it works for recording 240p consoles via scart, then I'll buy one for sure. :)
Well, I just bought it.
There are only two user reviews of it that I found on the internet but both are good so that is something.
I think they say Europe only because normally no one uses SCART in america. But still, I am concerned about some missing technical details, like can I turn the upscale on or off, will it like retro console video output, does it record in 60 fps etc..
But If all else fails I can return it I think, those boxes all seem to be in Canada so returning it might not be too bad. Or my dad could use it to record his old VCR tapes and It can also be used as a network drive.
In any case I will make a full review of it for you guys :)
I eagerly await your review. The price seems way too good to be true. I couldn't find where it said it recorded via RGB or if it just used the composite portion of the SCART. Can you drag the files off of there to edit in another application?
^since its optional it most likely measn that those ports can onlybe used on a european tv
or are only available on european models
One of the user reviews mention it, and he actually complains about it being a useless feature since "nobody uses that connector here". Obviously not a retro game collector :p
So that means that the ports should be on it at least. As to if the firmware can take advantage of it, or if it truly records RGB remains to be seen...
Edit: Also, I noticed the the same seller I bought it from on ebay are also selling it in Europe, from Canada. So that is a good sign that the units for Europe are the same as those we get here.
Is that site really trustworthy?
they can't even spell "motherboard":

lol
There are also several typos in the product description. That is in part why I ended up getting the module on Ebay from a different seller. Price was the same.

Yea when they screw up the spelling on something as significant as that, I have my doubts on it being a trustworthy place to buy.
Wait, no HDMI input.I would pick up one of these if it had a HDMI input as well.
Well, not really. But I guess it might turn out useful in that regard. Who knows!
Many people who bought this seem disappointed that it does not record in HD. I guess they should have read the product description better. For my part I will be super happy if it can record RGB from old consoles properly. I also hope it can pass through the signal without delay and degradation.
