Can't rep!
That's great though. There's a loose dog like that around here too, its owners couldn't care less about it or where it goes.
I've never seen a cat be so valiant and loyal to its owners! That dog should be put down though. There's no excuse to let that aggressive dog exist.
Maybe it's suffering from affluenza.
I have zero doubts about the loyality of my (two) cats. But from what could they possibly protect me?
There are plenty of stories on YT where cats helped people with chronic diseases or noticed a tumor or saved people from fire. (Much like with dogs to be fair)
That's amazing. I like cats and all, but I never thought of them as really giving a fuck. I've never had one.
Cats are the only animals other than humans who hunt for sport, so that mouse he leaves you is both a gift and a trophy.
Pretty amazing video. I'd heard about it, but to see it is pretty impressive.
I've owned 3 cats, and I think only 1 of them would have risked herself for me (the other two would cower until the threat was gone). I think dogs tend to be more protective, but apparently cats are capable of this as well.
Edit: Not sure why the mom walked away instead of picking her son up, though...
I don't really get why people Thumbs Down these? Are they like Heartless or something?
Dog has already been put down
Probably just dickery I guess.
An explanation of that was added to the video description actually:
Quote:
Question: Why did the mom run away?
Answer: After checking his wounds she made sure the dog did not return for a second attempt. The owners were there also and she was bit by the dog as she tried to pin him in his yard. The owners did get control of the dog and secured him in which she immediately returned to attending to our son. I did not include that video because it was not so much about the dog but about the cats actions.
Excellent video! My mom has been pining me to watch it for a while now. Shows you cats aren't so useless after all. Unfortunately, mine passed away not too long ago from what I believe was just old age. But they are amazing creatures.
My cat likes me a lot, but doing this for me is a whole other story. She did hunt bats and gave them to us, that was cool.
That's amazing. What was going through that dogs mind when he just attacked the kid?
I think science is a little backwards when considering whether animals have conscious awareness: In my opinion this need to use comparative psychology to study animal behavior is a little silly.
i saw this on the news at work, actually it was on ESPN of all channels. The family of the cat got to do the opening pitch at a pro MLB game wherever they stay.
I've had cats who are protective sort of like this. At least, they would occasionally attempt to run off stray dogs who would come passing through.
