I think this is an excellent move by Nintendo. It allows for them to gain more brand exposure which hopefully will translate to more sales. Lately I've noticed alot more Nintendo ads advertising the game. There is a report today that Nintendo sold 1.2 million copies of Mario Kart 8 over the weekend! It doesn't look like they are ready to throw in the towel just yet. I am quite happy to see Nintendo make a concerted effort to market the Wii U.
