Looks great, looking forward to seeing it at the pictures .
The stuff of nightmares.
We get old-school Jim Carrey, which is good, but I'm not sure it's worth the cost.
Please spare us the pathetic ResetEra GIF love-ins ;). I thought the brief glimpse of the high-speed fight in the desert looked great, hopefully, they'll be more of that and Jim Carrey was rather good. Don't like the design of Sonic much, but can live with it; more so as the idea of walking talking bipedal blue hedgehog, that can run faster than the speed of sound, was all a little ridiculous to begin with.
Dear god, I knew it was going to be bad but it seems so much worse seeing it in motions. That is some horrible CGI. This really is just that shit Woody Woodpecker movie. Why use Gangsta's Paradise? So Jim Carrey isn't Robotnick. Just Ace Ventura...who hates animals. Fucking hell we live in the worst timeline. Thanos, please snap us out of this.
Besides getting to watch Jim Carrey again there is nothing of worth in this movie.
This is terribly terrible. I've seen many people saying the only good part is Jim Carrey, which is nothing for me since I don't like his acting. Besides, his lines weren't funny. Besides, the character he's playing, that thing most definitely is NOT Eggman/Robotnik.
There's so much appeal to 90s nostalgia here (Gangster's Paradise, Jim Carrey, uhhh Sonic), but it's so haphazard.
"Hey, 90s nostalgia is about to peak! Let's make a movie ostensibly targeted towards children, but include a random collection of 90s stuff so that their parents (who were growing up in the 90s) will happily take them to see it!"
It feels more like a product than good entertainment.
I will see it
Leaked script says that Sonic is from another dimension, and Carrey will be affected by that dimensions energy, slowly metamorphosing him from a Wacky Races expy to the Eggman from the games (see the last shot in the trailer, which looks like it takes place in Mushroom Hill from the games, and by that time he has the full blown madman 'stache).
Honestly, I'm more interested in seeing this happen than anything else from the rest of the movie. He is one of my favourite actors, and an extremely good choice for the movie - his only fault for this role is that his voice is not deep enough. Gonna watch this for him alone, and I'll be fully expecting the movie to be as memorable as the 90s Street Fighter and Super Mario movies.
Of course upon further consideration, it speaks volumes, that the thing I'm most excited about is seeing how Jim Carrey's moustache will evolve throughout the flick.
