Probably full of the "Sonic is the only memorable thing Sega ever made" comments you find on youtube. pass
Nah, but it's still not too exciting. Probably should've posted this in the AVGN thread instead. Mods ?
A better title for this would be "James & Mike Mondays: The Nintendo guys play bad Sonic romhacks/pirates and try to be funny in order to earn those youtube dollars.
... and all that without telling anything informative about the romhacks/pirates themselves other than that they exist.
Nothing about the creepy Sonic-Romhack that was created for a contest and is based on the Sonic.EXE creepypasta...
...nothing about Sonic Jam 6 being a bootleg of chiniese/taiwanese origin...
...nothing about the hugeness of the Sonic Mega Mix-project - nothing about the many playable characters, the Sega CD version, the tweaks in the mechanics etc...
11 Minutes completely devoid of information (heck, I gave more background-information in three lines of this post alone!). It wasn't even entertaining in some kind of "let's play" variety, and their banter wasn't witty because clearly they didn't know what to say. Just the two of them goofing off on the couch.
What a waste of time...
And they spend half the video talking about the Super Mario Bros. hack.
James & Mike play is literally one of the most boring YouTube shows of all time, occasionally they have funny episodes like Pilotwings 64 and fun ones like the Atari ones, but they literally have no chemistry and banter.
James is just not an improv guy at all, and Mike isn't funny or knowledgeable.
EDIT: On the other hand, that Sonic hack they tried first, I think I nearly cried when I first seen that "I am god" screen. Was not expecting that shit + lights out + headphones at the time.
Am I the only one who thinks they look completely disinterested and bored over half the time in those "Mondays" videos?
Mike tries to be intentionally crude, thinking that cursewords=funny. It's annoying and cringeworthy, if you ask me. And yeah, James isn't really much of an improv guy, he usually just hangs back without saying or doing much.
Oh, that's just "An Ordinary Sonic ROM hack". It was created for a Sonic Rom hacking contest in 2013 and is based off of an old Creepypasta-Story featuring an allegedly "possessed" Sonic ROM. It's... special, I'll give it that much.
In one set of videos they had Pat the NES Punk, who's genuinely quite amusing, which helped.
Bootsy is quite funny at times too, he's also a lot better than James and Mike at games which is amusing.
In fact thinking about it, did anyone else notice James get game over on SOR3 at Level 1-2?
