^but it's true. He and James will just call the SNES superior, they don't give a damn about the specs. They certainly don't know how the consoles actually match up to the spec sheets they can find. It's just magically superior.

Gaming is reaching the point where we should be beyond console wars crap when discussing the old systems. We should be able to examine the history of the medium without it devolving into brand loyalty debates.
There are people out there who will say they want games respected as an art form out of one side of their mouth while acting like children over which video game console you owned 20 years ago from the other side.
I love reviews of gamers of whom its obvious that they LOVE games, but when you watch James and Mike's crap its
so fucking obvious that despite owning a lot of games these guys were never full gamers, one of them might have had
a C64 as a kid but you can tell they really didn't become gamers until Nintendo put some colorful graphics in their face.
and from then on it was only Nintendo could give them the thrill of games.
Shame he can't sell Angry Nintendo Nerd shirts, because that's really the only name he deserves.
Never had an NES myself until many years after it was left behind by game makers. I went straight from my Atari XEGS, to my SEGA Genesis.
The thing is, out of context, he isn't wrong about the software mattering more than hardware. In context he really means "Nintendo consoles have more software worth noting than Sega consoles," which turns around and makes it about the hardware in a whole different manner. "Nintendo is better because it has the sleazier business practices, so :P"
Also, "specs and numbers" is how we learn about the consoles, instead of confirmation biasing ourselves into "my console is better than yours, neener neener neener"
I like to think because we treat the consoles a bit more fairly, but maybe we're just masochistic :p.
Do AVGN fans even like Mike? I've never encountered anyone who says they like him.
I dunno. I don't hate either, I just don't see eye to eye with their viewpoint of the 4th generation, and apparently Nintendo/Sega as a whole.
I like the AVGN show without treating his word as gospel, but almost every AVGN fan knows that Mike is so bad at what he does that he is actually some kind of anti-charisma, bringing segments down. When he plays characters he's not too bad except for the god-awful Wizard of Oz episode.
I like Mike.
