Sixth generation mutli-platform comparisons?
I'm investigating multi-platform sixth-generation releases to understand the technical differences. Sometimes it is the hardware that determines the quality, and other times it's because the port was poorly done. For example, most people (myself included) agree that the Xbox versions for most multi-plats of this time were usually always the better version in terms of technical performance. However, there are some exceptions to this. PS2 generally had the most technically inferior versions due to hardware shortcomings with framerate and loadtimes being the biggest offenders. But when fully utilized, it could look as good as the other systems. Unfortunately, I've only seen this demonstrated with games tailored for the system, such as Square-Enix or Sony Entertainment exclusives. Some examples of inferior ports that come to mind are Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life for PS2, and Metal Arms. In fact, I cannot think of a single PS2 multi-plat game that is better on that system than any of the others. I have heard complaints about Metal Gear Solid 2's Xbox port because it was tailored for the PS2's emotion engine or something along those lines which made a poor transition to Xbox hardware. But I don't know how true that is. Let me know what's up with all this and provide some comparisons.
