I hate fighting games but love sports ones and was surprised how good snk a company known for just fighting games is at sports games, super sidekicks, baseball stars and neo golf wow, shame we never will get to see more non fighting games from snk. I would love to have seen them do a platform game to rival Mario, sonic.
Well, they've been doing arcade games since '79. They made Athena, but I don't think anyone considers that good. Then there's Psycho Soldier, which is where that KoF team comes from. With the Neo-Geo, they made Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy. With Pallus, they made Eightman, which I always saw as more like Strider than a beat 'em up.

I remember being in Osaka, Japan 10 or so years back and deciding to track down the SNK headquarters. There were supposedly 3 well known game arcades run by SNK near the HQ called Neo Geo Land full of SNK games and memorabilia. When I got there, I looked everywhere but couldn't find the arcades. Then I heard that they had all been recently converted into parking lots. It was a sad day.

SNK is dead. SNK PLAYMORE is dead too, they don't do anything anymore.
Didn't they give their blessing to some absolute piece of shit handheld, that was nothing more than a glorified emulator with ROMs, and that cost $100+ to take advantage of their former fans who shelled out tons for their products when they actually made good stuff? Seeing as Neo Geo fans were usually people who looked beyond the mainstream and did their research, I can't imagine any serious, intelligent SNK fan actually buying that. But I can imagine some ignorant mom and pop store selling them to gullible customers.Quote:

KOF13 is amazing. It even came with that great soundtrack! I still have yet to fully get into it. KOF13 is just sitting on my shelf, while I dust it every once in a while. I can't learn fighting games properly without someone to play against. I wonder if the online service still works.Quote:
