i can see Nintendo folding sooner or later
Like their modern competition, they have money. If the console business does fail them, they could easily make it in the handheld business.
Plus I think this is basically the point of all the other Nintendo/Wii U threads here.
sigh
http://www.nintendolife.com/news/201...en_in_the_bankQuote:
Buried in reams of financial data is the revelation that Nintendo have 812.8 billion Yen (£6.7/$10.5 billion) in the bank - enough for it to take a 20 billion Yen loss (£163/$257 million) every year until 2052. Then there's almost 469 billion Yen (£3.8/$6.0 billion) held in premises, equipment and investments. When that runs out - we're in the year 2075 by this point - they've got some of the most valuable intellectual property in gaming to sell off before the company goes out of business.
The are losing potential big money by not having their licenses and properties on phones/tablets, no ?
A big part of Nintendo's philosophy is hardware innovation. I can't see them releasing games for other platforms anytime soon; as MaxWar says that would cause people to stop buying their hardware. I'm sure a lot of people would like that, however, since Nintendo hasn't been doing too well in the hardware innovation department recently...
Well uhm. Look this will go offtopic. But i promise its good advise for the topic starter.

What's a nintendo?
As much as I don't care for Nintendo, they will be around for a long time (maybe even longer than Microsoft and Sony) because they made enough money early on to sustain them for a long time. And when I say early on, I'm talking about 1985-1996. Not bad for a company that started out selling playing cards.
