Both my Non-TMSS HDG Model 1 and TMSS HDG Model 1 units need to require a headphone plug placed in a certain spot before they will allow stereo sound, other wise it's mono and only out the right channel. They both are somewhat loose, i've taken apart the units to try and get the headphone jack thing to stay in place and not "wiggle" around, but it still does.
Is there anyway at all to fix this so that I don't have to fiddle around with it to get the audio to work properly? Thanks. :cool:

If you look inside the headphone jack port, you should see (for lack of a better term) metal tab inside. The tab is not only responsible for delivering the sound but also keeping the jack headphone hack stable. That tab has most likely shifted as a result of frequently plugging and unplugging a headphone jack into the console. Depending how far that tab has shifted back, you may not be able to get a clear glimpse of it but it's there. I would try to stick a small pin inside the port. You need to get the pin under the tab and force it far enough forward so that it is again covering three quarters of the headphone jack port hole. This should solve your problem.
If you are able to get it fixed, in future I would avoid plugging in a headphone or stereo jack directly into the port. I would instead get a 3.5 mm extension wire that you will keep plugged into headphone jack port. This way you avoid the wear and tear that comes with plugging and unplugging a headphone or stereo jack directly into the console. An extension wire generally runs you a $1.50 to $2.00 and therefore is easy to replace.

Yup.. sounds like a pin tension issue. That's the easy fix.. if that doesn't work might have to solder a new jack.
