Purple (or maybe dark blue) death is better than cyan death (brown windows are best pretty sure everyone agrees).
I wish the "star field" or whatever it is on Demon Dracula could be made permanently black, that blue is just... blah.

My vote will probably lose but I think it should be the blue/cyan one and not the purple.
Why? A few reasons:
- The new version of the Gargoyle Bat added purple (and, yes, it looks a lot better than the original). The new version of Dracula will use purple tones for his clothes (probably very similar or the very same ones of the supposed purple Death). Elizabeth Bartley already uses rose-ish and red-ish tones... I mean, there's a lot of purple in this game already (several of the improved skies also use purple tones now, the stage with mummies also added purple, etc), especially on the bosses and some variety wouldn't hurt. And, besides Death, I don't see another boss or enemy where those cyan tones could be useful and look good like that.
- The cards played by Death actually portrait himself with blue-ish tones. Neither red (original) nor purple.
- I think the cyan version looks just as good as the purple one.
- Rondo's Death uses very similar tones to the actual Pyron's version and I like that sort of correlation between games, especially with a great game like Rondo:

Good!
I liked a lot the final battle suggestions.
Some much darker blue could work IMO.
It is kind of a lacklustre effect I agree, but perhaps cycling some very dark tones to make the effect more subtle could work.
I'd go with cyan Death but don't mind either way.
I really do not understand the problem with that color. Death always met that way and I think it fits very well with the character.
Purple is very generic but I agree that compose the scene well and makes it stand out more from the background.
But I agree with Barone motivations.

Agreed.
I had forgotten about this one actually.

The last one is even better IMO. Looks more "filthy".

Worlds better IMO. Fantastic job!
The last one looks best on its own, but also looks best with the background.
I like the new medusa but not sure about the red, it looks like those parts are bulging out rather than them being mouths.
I was curious about how the different incarnations of him would look so I put together this style guide for Death; from left to right, top to bottom - SCIV, Rondo 1, Rondo 2, SotN 1, SotN 2, SotN 2 Alternate, Pyron's version:

More accurate rondo-deaths:

Pyron, there's something I forgot to mention a couple times already and I also missed the proper chance when you're editing that level, but I think this enemy don't look good:

You know, the shading sucks there. Your usual improvement would already make it a lot better IMO.
IDK if it's one of those cases where it shares the palette with many other things but I think it could look even better if the rose-ish tone was replaced by a red-ish one (it would work better with its green parts IMO).
I'm really sorry for posting about it while you're already editing the final parts of the game but actually I'm not sure if you have already improved it or not and I couldn't find an specific comment about it in the older posts so I'm bringing it up now.
If could have a look on it before finishing the final version of your hack I'd be really thankful.
I think the mermen look appropriately wet/glossy, but the stomach part could have a more neutral tone like in other 'vanias if it works with the spitting attack.
i will take a look on them on revision, let me finish first.
Thanks, Pyron!
