I think the new version looks better and maybe it wouldn't be all that great to have the platform and fences in metallic tones since the skeletons are also grey-ish now.
All good, just the sky needs improving. (i.e. reducing the stark contrast between the blue tones)
this is darker than I can!

perfect.
Yeah, what Barone said, but doing it is pretty tough. The super orange look doesn't look all that great in the original. Usually the trick for this kind of thing is to only use oranges for highlights, but if you do that it'll interfere with the fire. Damn Konami.
I like it! It looks much more MD-ish than before. If Konami wanted Fire they should have used raster or s/h effects or something, not just paint everything orange.
You could try making the brightest shade yellow, the next one orange, and the last, shadowy shade, red, but what would that do to the pipes and everything?
I'd say it's fine as is though, the only other options would be red, which is the most likely shade pipes would turn, except metal usually starts melting when it gets that hot, blue, which is a weak flame, or white, which would indicate that it's hot enough that the playable character wouldn't survive on the heat alone. That and the pipes being white(or even silver) would look odd anyway.
i can left like the original, i dont know how do the heat thing well... if every color that color has to look like that orange will look horrible anyway in my opinion.
No, your version is fine. Looks great!
I agree that it's fine, you have a copper/bronze-ish color for the pistons(or whatever those are supposed to be under the flames) and as the dominant shading for the pipes, with a yellowish flame. That's a lot more realistic than orange piping.
I can left it high satureted

Yep.
The original is awful. Between yours and the original, keep yours.
What I'm saying is about consistency related to the original concept of that stage. Those pipes and other parts in awful orange were there to express a glowing hot state whose idea is lost with the new palette.
Maybe saturated red-ish or darker orange tones could there, but IDK as I don't have the palette in my hands and I'm not exactly aware of the limitations that you have in there.
It's not totally absurd to use the new tones though, since they're pretty close to the ones used in Batman's factory level on the Mega Drive for an example and I can live with that.
My comment was more towards point to a concept detail that I didn't know if you had noticed than if it looks great or not; 'cause, obviously, it looks better than the original.
EDIT: Ninja'd by Pyron
Looks best this way IMO. Thanks a lot!
Yes, the last one is perfect.
Nope, the color is too similar to the wheels. Reduces the overall color count.
Your first try was perfect.
Reminded me of Sunsoft's Batman or Empire of Steel. Very nice.
v1 / v2

He just needs to change the wheels then :p. Brown fire makes no sense.
Another part 1st test

Perfect.
Pretty massive improvement, you really have to wonder what konami was taking when they made this game.
v1 our this the new one ?

That is an improvement, no doubt! I still prefer v1 but I feel this is a good compromise.
V2 shading is far better than both v1 and v3; and brown fire sucks. Sorry, Christuserloeser.
Brown fire, heck I didn't even notice that was supposed to be fire haha
I still prefer v2, I think it blends better with the black/occluded parts than the other versions. But that's just my opinion and just 1 vote so far.
But I sure prefer v3 over v1.
v2

Do not know if it is noticeable in the photo. But I changed some various colors making the most distinct gears as the size and distance in the background. I liked enough and I think it does not get better than that.
Now my problem is with this skull in the picture, what color do I put it?
reminds me of the super Gameboy adaptor I had on my snes, even know you could only change 4 shades of green to color
my last try on that part

Perfect.
v4 wins.
