Yeah, for a system with so many colors and sub-palletes, there are a bunch of PCE games that could use the Pyron treatment. Great call on TNZS.
A great choice for a color hack on the PCE would be Detana Twinbee, the game is a great port however it's missing something: the recolored stages in the second loop.
Pyron, the hyperstone heist color hacks could use an update for the pizza monsters in stage 4 area 1. Their palette is located at US ROM location $0EEC4 (and the stage 1 area 3 pizza monsters have their palette at US ROM location $0D986). If you have any questions on other hyperstone palette locations send me a message.
Hi guys
some fun stuff to play, i hope some of you may like it..

thaks! it looks nice. No comparison shots, though :(
Looks cool, in special the title screen!
Ps: I want Chakan finished :D

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to LinkueiBR again.
Damn, the difference changing a few colours around makes. Colour hacks are the best idea ever.
Pretty cool! The title screen, stage 1 and the lava cave stage are the biggest improvements I think. The mounts look better as well.
I love the golden armor of the headless knight
This is just beautiful, so vivid and bright!

Thanks guys :D
Guys which palette is more accurate to a real MD?
In the emulation shots at RHDN (Fusion?) the RGB uses steps of 32, while the one posted at Sega Retro alternates between 32 and 40, and then there's the one you can import to GIMP which uses steps of 34. I made a conversion of the gimp palette file to a paint.net one but noticed this small difference when editing.
Neither is most accurate.
TmEE posted one somewhere on here.... let me see if I can find it.
EDIT: OK, found it:
http://www.sega-16.com/forum/showthr...-output-levels
Very cool, thanks. That actually sounds like a minor improvement for the low-mid range in terms of shading without shadow/highlight, unless you use pure black as base.
I'm looking for a emulator thats represent it correctly too, is very boring test on real hardware and see "diferent" colors on the screen, so i test everytime on my md before release the patchs
If you discover one that do it right, please share with me, it will help me alot.
Anybody else wish they kept this purple/pinkish colour scheme for Chemical Plant Zone from Nick Arcade Prototype?

Gives off a more cool Japanese vibe to me. Thought there was already a hack for this, but guess not...
Yes, in those pictures it seems way too bright, but when I play it in emulator on my PSP3000, it seems so perfect. Gives it a more Japanese anime vibe. So yeah, give it a shot on real hardware and see what it looks like in action on a proper TV. It's only the Nick Arcade Prototype that has this colour scheme.
Pyron you would have the chance you can make a hack color for Golden Axe III? It looks very dark and dull colors :(
I don't, but I made this paint.net palette file recently, based on Tiido's test that you could use for testing: http://textuploader.com/d54ga
Here it is as a png: http://www.bwass.org/bucket/paint net md palette corrected values.png
You can get the palette plugin for that program (which is free) and let it auto-convert images, though it's not perfect: http://paint.net.amihotornot.com.au/...ctive_Palette/

Here's a WIP thread for a Shining Force palette hack that I plan to do, let me know what you think:

Cool stuff, helps alot to compose a final image and preview it to optimize your work
you test it on rgb on real hardware to compare the results?
and about auto-convert image i'm always run from these things kkkk
About Shining always is good do something, but for me the main problem in this game is the map grafics, if you can improve it in anyway is very welcome
Unfortunately I don't have a flash cart or I probably would, yeah.
In 99% of cases handpicked colors are better, but with some tweaking of the contrast, brightness and saturation before conversion you can get a good base to work from. The problem with the paint.net auto picker seems to be that it prioritizes brightness over shades, often blending more subtle shading into one color.
I agree that the overworld graphics are a big step down from the battle graphics, I've done a couple tests (see the imgur album) but I'm saving the maps for last.
Haven't given Shining Force 1 a replay in awhile. Think once your hack is done, I think I'll rectify that.
Good to hear, thanks. I just got a gameplay improvement hack with some fixes by rubixcuber approved at RHDN as well, might wanna try it out (I guess you saw this if you're Sinful Force at SFC but for others who are reading): http://www.romhacking.net/hacks/3168/
I'll be updating it soon though, because apparently he has made some other improvements that I didn't know about. :)
For accurate colors have you tried gens/gs? Try it with the settings mentioned here: http://segaretro.org/Sega_Retro:Scre...ega_Mega_Drive
^I'll check it out, thanks.
Since the editor allows for editing the actual graphics I'm trying to make Lyle's eyes look less weird/more like the artwork, please tell me if this is better or not:

Edit - - - - - - - - - Original
http://www.shiningforcecentral.com/c...book2_lyle.jpg
^ I'm honestly not sure at the moment.
Ok, I asked my brother, the better artist, on his opinion on those eyes. Though keep in mind he's not into the series yet. He said he doesn't know, but thinks he likes the original better. Says the eyes in the original look alright and that it reminds him of a where's Waldo character.
I think that the new colors could perhaps be balanced a bit better, but it already looks great. The eyes are a big improvement and capture the feel of the original artwork.
Thanks, and yeah, I might've gone a bit overboard with brightening the darker tones there as I was prioritizing the face tones and they're used on the gear and shoulder pad as well.
I'm not familiar with that, you mean like this?`
https://pmcdeadline2.files.wordpress...6&h=299&crop=1
I think the original looks less like that, if either of them is even close lol.
Edit: I took some heavy criticism on another forum for the eyes edit, so here are a couple of alternate takes:
http://i.imgur.com/Vr9wp6Y.png
http://i.imgur.com/gypEyDf.png
Not sure if they're better.
The one you first posted is still by far the best and looks good. People who have a problem with it are likely just used to the existing in-game pixeart and that's how they think of the character.
I'm a bit partial towards the last one too, though it's not closer to the artwork than the original I think.
Anyway I made this mix between the first and second edits and balanced the colors a bit and I think I'll stick with it. I can always change it later.

With darker skin there can be a bit more contrast for the rest of him:
