eBay problem

I had listed a lot of three GoldenEye/Bond games on eBay: 007 and TWiNE for N64, and a complete copy of the Wii remake for 007. I meant to cancel the auction before it ended but because of my schedule, couldn't get to it in time to do so. It sold for a measly 13 dollars, and I kindly asked the buyer if we could cancel it because it wasn't meant to be completed. They've paid for it already and replied saying they want to receive it and feel it is my duty to send it out. This person is also speaking engrish. What should I do about it?

Ship it out. An auction is a contract, he won, ship it. If you don't think 13 dollars is enough you should have set a reserve or a higher starting price.

Depends what's important to you. Its either possible bad feedback or getting a few more bucks. I depend on Ebay and my reputation is one of the few things I have so in my case I would just swallow it. It sucks but things are always slow in the summer.

Yeah, how much were you looking to get for it?
If it sold for higher, would you be upset that it wasn't completed and refund some money?

Anyways, people, I did agree to sell this to the buyer at their request. But it has taught me never to auction stuff thinking that without a doubt it will go for higher. In fact, I've had this happen to me several times in the past, but I fall into the trap of hoping I'll score a few hits here and there. Personally, I'm shocked that these games went for so cheap, considering their reputation. I'm also kind of conflicted about whether I would have re-listed or kept them to myself, since I did kind of dabble in them, but for the most part, console FPSes are not my cup of tea. So I'm kind of relieved I guess about their fate. Anyways, I should just embrace the generosity of letting it go without any prolonged argument with the buyer and let them enjoy this bargain they've claimed for themselves. I've also been planning to buy more gifts for people I know, so learning to let go of this may help make giving easier.

I said in terms you will understand:

1. Its your rep, do you care if its negative.

2. If it sold high would you give some money back.

3. N64 games are so worthless, you should pay people to take them.

Nah, it's fine. And yeah, most N64 games are forgettable crap, as are most PS1 titles. That generation didn't age too well, for sure.

I've practically given away some really dime-a-dozen crap games no one wants anymore like Cruisin' USA or Mission Impossible for N64. Truly dreadful. Most of the fun comes from laughing at how cheesy they are, though.

It's happened to all of us matey, just got to slump the shoulders, pack and send. Have a beer (or whatever) & hope next time it goes better for you. I sold a region free gen2, scd2 & 32x for over $600, there was an issue with the 32x (fkn thing!), said no warranty on my ad but replaced it anyway.

My beef is with ebay and paypals cut.

First, cancelling an auction early because the bids aren't as high as you want is just as bad as not sending out the item. When you list the auction, it's best to think of the item as already being out of your hands at that point.

Second, it shouldn't matter how someone speaks English as long as you can communicate efficiently.

As to why your auction didn't sell well, that's not difficult to determine. I found it here:

I would assume that with your ebay selling history, you already know this, but maybe not?

1) WHEN your auction ends is critical. Always (with few exceptions) have auctions end Sunday night around 10pm EST. Your auction ended at 6:30AM EST on Thursday. That's possibly the worst time to ever end an auction.

2) Have more pictures. I would be nervous about bidding on your games because you only have 1 picture with poor lighting and you mention damage in the item description that you don't show in the pictures (a name being written on the back of the cartridge deserves a picture so we can see how bad it is). Also show the inside of the Wii case.

Also, I don't think you got a really bad deal. Goldeneye N64 goes for about $10 loose, TWINT for $5, and Goldeneye Wii for $5 in ebay auctions (more for BINs, but that's always the case; expect less from auctions). Lets be real, that dude got an absolute steal.

Although I once bought Smash Bros Brawl for £4, and the guy was still nice enough to actually ship it, so I say bite the bullet and just give the guy his games tbh.

This. The buyer is right. When someone wins an auction or makes a purchase you've made a contract with them to complete your end of the transaction.

Actions are always a risk. Take your lumps and don't make the same mistake next time.

I've done it too. I once got a copy of Metal Slug for the Neo CD that I paid $80 for, it was supposed to be the US version but was the Japanese one. Instead of doing an overseas return I bought a US copy (also $80) from someone else and thought I could get most of my cash back on ebay. If I got $60, I'd be happy. I started the auction at $.99, it only went for like $25 or something. I was pissed, but hey, that's the way it works. I could have easily started bidding at $39, or just set a BIN of $60 and it would have sold sooner or later.
