Things are getting pretty odd in the US these days. Everyone has to pick a side and stick with it. Even if a person is somewhat moderate, odds are they will pushed into corner by someone else who can't fathom that concept. It's Obama is devil or Obama can do no wrong for example. Its never just MEH.

As strange are people who talk about supporting and honoring people and things all the time.Veterans, dead celebrities, Tom Thumb, Mighty Mouse, whatever. Hell they have Ken Burns on PBS asking it's viewers to include PBS in their wills. It's weird.

Any crazy idea will gain support, just not pragmatic ones.

As much I like PBS I hate it whenever they interrupt a show to ask for your money

They tried to get me to do the whole pledge to the flag bit,
needless to say its against the constitution to mandate such a practice.
Didn't stop them from trying to make me every year at school.
They even sent me to the dean with a write up on one occasion.

I think labels like Geek, Nerd and/or Hipster lose their meaning when you just label anyone that likes something you don't like one of those phrases and/or you use it to describe your fashion. Example: Collecting video games makes you a 'nerd' and is usually being thrown at someone that has no interest in that subject. Another is 'Oh you like X band? I Never heard of them. You must be a hipster.' We video gamers do it to mainstream gamers to an extent as well "I hate call of duty, those damn bro gamers". etc

But the worse is the fashion stuff "Oh I just got this new boots, I'm so hipster".... or "I got glasses, I'm such a nerd lol. I love Big Bang Theory."
