Cool. From reading the Assemblergames thread, it's a prototype that was manufactured for test purposes but never put into mass production.
That's why I always pick up seemingly weird crap if it's available for cheap. Worst case scenario I have to sell it to someone else for cheap. Best case scenario it ends up being something like this.
I loved some of the special edition oXboxen they came out with. It's a shame most of them were only in Japan. They need more cool limited edition consoles.

I don't know, kinda reminds me of how Variant covers on comic books are,
its the same exact comic, with a different artwork on the outside.
I would much rather case mod and have something one of a kind.
I wouldn't mind so much if it was done right though.
If they made a Variant run of consoles that were all unique and numbered to prove it.
I wouldn't miss the chance to own the only variant of that style.
It can never happen of course.
It sure would be awesome though.
I like that x-box too.
Yeah, but case mods are your own personal thing. Like I have a limited edition translucent green Halo oXbox with a matching custom front panel that has an LCD display (paired up with the xecutor modchip). It's an awesome looking box, and super functional.
But it's not anything "special" aside from being a halo variant. The factory provided variants just have that "different" appeal because you know someone didn't just buy a bone standard one and slap some cheap aftermarket plastic shell on it.
The ultra rare one off stuff like you mention is nice too, but that's something so rare only a handful of people will ever manage to see one in person, let alone own.
