Nintendo Doesn't Deserve 3rd Party Support Nor is Entitled to It

What do you mean "No company that makes a console does"? It's obviously not a right, but clearly some manufacturers "deserve" more support than others. Nintendo did nothing to entice third parties, so it doesn't deserve their support, pretty simple.

No, none of them do. Sony earned it by being "nice" this time around and learning from the blows they took from MS last gen.

MS "earned" it by seeing that they couldn't rest on their 360 laurels with the xb1.

It's not that Nintendo does nothing, but if what the now exited Dan Adelman has said and hinted at is any indication, Nintendo is far from being an exceptional company for anyone but Nintendo to make games with.


The TLDR part of it:
They "deserve" it only if they go and get it, regardless of who they are.

Third parties are going to go the path of least resistance and greatest profit. Being one of those things might be enough, but right now Nintendo is neither.

I watched the video and essentially it's just a backlash against Nintendo fans who feel Nintendo should have third party support by default because its Nintendo. I agree with it, but I also felt like it should be common sense. I guess it isn't.

Nintendo's success or failure doesn't really concern me. They've carved out a niche for themselves and have enough money to sit in that niche for a very long time if they want to.

I'm sure third parties would happily support the Wii U if more than 20 people owned one.

I have one, it's not a bad system per se. Sure, I abhor the goddamn tablet controller, but aside from that and the horrendous 90's UI, it's not bad. Their E3 was even the best of a pretty mediocre lot.

But I've said this before.

When I see wii u ads... they don't know what they are really trying to say most of the time.
When I walk into a gamestop or similar... where is the wii u stuff? Usually in the last isle/back of the store. A place you have to purposefully walk into to look at it. The Sony/MS stuff? Right in the prime spots.

Hell, in my local gamestop the skylanders bundles have better store real estate, and worse than that? The traded in phone/tablets have better real estate.
And the bigger kicker? Even the bargain bin Wii games have better real estate than the wii u. Yes, they give better store space to the old wii games than the wii u. There's not even a wii u kiosk up in there anymore.

Where is the money Nintendo? Give a push, moneyhat some good multiplat games, or even some great exclusives, push for better in store space for awhile. Something, anything to show that they want games on the system other than what they make themselves.

I'm certainly waiting to see what they pull out, if anything, for this holiday season. At the least I know there's a few games they have coming up that I want to play/own. But beyond that.... no idea.

It's okay, except for the gimmicky controller which adds nothing to almost every game, and the fact that it's woefully underpowered compared to newer consoles and PCs.

I may of mentioned it before, but smash hit games like Skyrim, Bioshock Infinite we're absolutely nowhere to be seen on the Wii U. FIFA 15 is being released on the Wii but not the Wii U, NBA 2k15 and WWE 2k15 are nowhere to be seen on the platform. Watch_Dogs (even though the game sucks absolute balls) was delayed on the Wii U, it lost Rayman Origins as an exclusive, Destiny, set to be a huge launch is nowhere to be seen on the Wii U despite being released on 360 and PS3, and GTAV was also nowhere to be seen on the Wii U.

The console literally has nothing.

Nintendo themselves and people who are blindly loyal seem to think that's enough. And that is the big issue.

The general market (read: most everyone) disagrees. The number of people willing to shell out for a dedicated Nintendo game box are dwindling as the years go on. They need to legitimately capture more peoples attention, not just spark a one time fad like the wii.
