Oh, yet another stupid video from CGR.
Didn't awesome Mark and his CGR empire of superficial reviews and moronic opinions left YT last year after an overly dramatic complaint against the site that made him any less insignificant than he should be?
Looks like his foolish empire can't survive without YT.
I don't know, I kind of like CGR. A hell of a lot better than most other expletive filled "reviewers" that just gripe and moan about pretty much everything they review. Mark's videos tend to be short (if a bit silly sometimes) and usually focus on whether a game is fun or not, which I appreciate.
I lost interest in CGR a while ago. I got tired of "reviews" that tell the viewer nothing and consist of Mark beating whatever joke he thought of 5 minutes before recording into the ground and referencing 80s TV shows.
That dude has got to have an ego the size of the sun, the way commenters suck his dick in every video.
It's really starting to bother me how people send him rare, expensive games and consoles just to see him sort of talk about them in a 5 minute video. I doubt he appreciates them. I remember him stating his first couple of 3DOs didn't work and that he tried to use a Genesis controller with them. The idiot probably damaged them by doing that, but who cares, someone else will just send him a new one for free.
Ha ha, is that some sour grapes? "I hate how this guy's fans like him and send him free stuff! >:( "
Mark's reviews are rarely negative, but they are nice to watch to get a good handle on what a game is like.
It was due to a period of youtube removing gameplay footage of games as copyright infringement. As far as I know some of his videos were being deleted so he migrated to another site until the spell of stupidity had passed.
He started the whole "internet video game review stuff" didn't he back in 1999 ?
Exactly, he's been doing this for years, who cares.
I like Mark because his videos aren't filled with fanboy rage and excessive nitpicking, something I struggle to find on most boring 20 minute plus YT shows about games.
I really really like the CGR. I think it's great that Mark is not concerned with more technical things or to please fanboys, they simply give the honest opinion of him as a player and with no commitment to anyone.
And when he is fan of one thing he is the first take and speak it without any shame, like this his sincerity.
It's not sour grapes, I just think it's dumb for people to send him triple digit games and consoles only for him to make a video where he tells the viewer nothing about them that they couldn't find out from watching a silent gameplay video or looking at pictures.
Mark is funny and has a good personality, but I've gotten tired of his lack of depth and research in his videos. I guess CGR is the McDonalds to Game Sack's Five Guys.
"You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to zetastrike again." :(
It's always funny to me that whenever someone posts something from CGR, inevitably, the "I hate Mark" crowd comes out. He's definitely an acquired taste and not for everyone, but I'm not sure where all the vitriol comes from. I don't think he's become big headed or obnoxious. You see him from his reviews back in 1999 and he's pretty much the exact same way. I also find his reviews useful. Are they indepth and complex? No. But they show the game and Mark basically talks about whether he liked the game or not and why. Since I've come to understand his taste in games over the years, I can tell by his reaction the probability that I might like a game or not. I can't ask for more than that from a reviewer.
He does come off as hokey and obnoxious, but I think he's just a goofy gamer guy. He loves games, loves the Genesis above all, but he's platform agnostic in his reviews. His enthusiasm for gaming is obvious and seems genuine. Just a dorky dude who loves making videos about his passion. What's there to hate about that?
Ha ha, you'd think on a Sega forum he'd have nothing but fanboys.
So? They do it because they like his videos/personality. If you had given something and were disappointed, I can understand being a little bitter, but it doesn't bother me how fans of an internet personality act. Comparatively speaking, it's pretty tame.
Wow, cool. Good post. =/
Thing is Mark comes out as that gamer next door that could be your gamer buddy.
The guy is enthusiastic about games, mostly positive about anything and got a dumb albeit harmless sense of humor.
I don't watch everything he puts out, but every once in a while I'll take a look at what he has to say, no matter how shallow.
He's cool in my book and props for him for having lasted so long in this "business".
This reflects my feelings as well.
I don't go to CGR for in-depth reviews but I like watching once in a while.
As for people sending him crap I personally think it's silly but that's their business.
It's not like he's the only Internet personality people shower with video games. I'd rather see Mark get a donated game than Game Grumps.
