Did any of you non-soccer fans played and enjoyed any soccer video game in the 80s or 90s (like Tehkan World Cup,Hat trick hero,Striker the Fifa series)? Were those games popular in the U.S.?
I'm just curious,I'm from a fútbol crazy country but I used to play with my friends NBA JAM in the arcades even if I only played ONE basketball game in my whole life and we also had a lot of fun with NHL 95.
I don't think I have ever played a soccer video game ever.
My NeoGeo arcade cab came with a soccer game, I played it a bit.. was kinda meh.
Captain Tsubasa 3 on snes by far. Soccer anime rpg. Only In Spanish and Japanese. Part 2 on nes has an English version. Genesis has a short cheap incomplete version of the Tecmo soccer series

^ AKA Dunk Dream. I'm certainly not into sports games either, but starting with Arch Rivals in the arcade as well as the excellent Basket Brawl on 7800, I've not minded some of the more 'extreme' takes on the genre.
Super Baseball 2020 is another.
^ Base Wars for the NES is another sci-fi baseball games with fights ( also we are about only 6 years to futuristic baseball games with robots :p)

Soccer Brawl is so much fun, pretty much the only soccer game I can stand.
I'm not a big soccar fan but the victory goal games on Saturn are pretty good actually.
picked up a copy locally for $3, worth every penny. great soundtrack.
