EDIT:
-We finally get to see Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem!
-N64 and DS Virtual Console out now!
Also amiibos are going to be the death of my wallet.
I like this video better. Straight to the point without the happy faced kiddie character overload. Please Nintendo bring back the "play it loud" marketing.

While that game seems to miss the spirit of the games its representing, it still looks interesting. The cover for Yoshi Woolly World is cool and so are the Amiibos. I like the art style for this game.

It still completely blows my mind that people actually want Amiibos.
Hum their just figures of your favorite characters that unlock minor things in games. 12 dollars for a statue of your favorite game character? If you where a kid, you'd be all over it.
Imagine Streets of Rage Amiibos
Well they're nice quality figurines of Nintendo characters for an affordable price. So Some people buy them just because they look nice. Also it's pretty fun training them up in Smash Bros as they'll actually pick up on some of your habits. So for example if you taunt every time you defeat another player, the amiibo will pick up on that and start taunting every time they defeat another player. If you throw items off the stage when they drop, the amiibo will pick up on that and throw the items off the stage too. So it adds a new aspect to Smash as now there's another kind of competition, seeing who can train the best amiibos.
I picked up a few amiibos for my own collection to go with my games on shelf. I have no problem opening them up for display. The low supply and high demand is very annoying. I only grab my favorites that are in a decent pose. The link amiibo is terrible for example IMO. I picked up Mario, Zelda, DK, and MegaMan.
BTW Refurb WiiUs are back in stock from Nintendo store.
I think the the Skylander craze that's spilled over into Disney Infinity and the immensely more popular Amiibos is ingenious toy marketing. Fundamentally though I hate Amiibos since it's another case of artificially controlled supply and demand to cultivate a collector's market that's bound to collapse. They're this generation's Beanie Baby.
They're not for me though if I had kids I'm sure my house would be full of the things.
Amiibos are a toy that crosses over to your actual game. I think its a case of people here not caring about Nintendo franchises (aka they aren't for you) and being adults...
Imagine if you where kids and you could get Genesis game figures that interacted with your games? Tell me we wouldn't be all over that shit? I can think of a ton of games that I'd love figures for, including Comix Zone, Vectorman, Sonic the Hedgehog, Ristar, ... damn too many.
Amiibos are only good for one thing and that's reselling them for profit.
I love the concept. I remember when the Skylanders came out and all the commercials. That was just the other day and I still remember wanting it so badly; but at the same time telling myself "I'm too old for this".
I do agree that, were I to be a kid, I'd be all over this stuff right now. But now seeing these crazy collections that just keep these toys in their packaging totally destroys my desire to ever get into it in the first place. I'm not into toys. I like displaying maybe a couple of ninja turtles or a cool transformer OPENLY (WITHOUT THE BOX), but keeping these "INTERACTIVE" toys inside the box is like keeping a video game sealed. Sorry. Not me.
I would not. I don't want a game that I can't get the full experience of without buying unnecessary knick-knacks. I also have zero interest in Skylanders and Disney Infinity. These things aren't like special controllers or other accessories, because they don't actually do anything functionally that makes them essential. They're artificially imposed. Even if I was a kid, I wouldn't want that. I remember a handheld version of Street Fighter that by itself had four playable characters, but you could expand that by buying character cards that you scanned in. Aside from the fact that it didn't play well anyway, I really disliked the idea of the cards, just on principle.
I also really dislike the fact that so many stores have reduced their selection/supply of actual games to make room for all these trinkets. It used to be somewhat easy for me to find games that were like 2 years old for a good price (new), now that's practically not even a thing anymore. There's probably other factors involved too, but a major reduction in shelf space is surely one of the main culprits.
I have bought a couple of game-related figures: Beat from JSRF, and a set of two Super Monkey Ball figures. They were pretty cheap, and I didn't buy them because I needed them for some purpose. I guess if someone buys an Amiibo just strictly because, say, they're a big fan of Earthbound and they want a little figure of Ness just to have it, there's nothing negative I can say about that. But that's certainly neither the norm nor the intent. The Amiibos themselves, the concept behind them and the way they're put out there, really annoys me.Quote:

I'd like a Vectorman figure, but do any Amiibos have joints?
I'm just glad that Nintendo isn't just keeping figure rights to themselves, and have given out licenses for fully articulated action figures to Bandai, Figma and Jakks Pacific. I have zero interest in the kiddy Amiibos.
Here's another 2015 Wii U title from the one and only Yuji Naka:
I guess it was originally for the Wii but the publisher sat on it so it got ported to the Wii U and 3DS. Apparently the Wii U version will also come with the original Wii version for free.
That looks cool. Hopefully it gets brought to the US. I'm getting a little bit of a nights vibe from it.
I wish people would boycott amiibos on principle because of this.Quote:

I just recently started collecting games for my WII U, I feel its the right time and there are the right conditions for aiming at a complete library.
- Few games are going to be produced from now on, hence easy to keep up once you got all the past releases out of the way.
- Launch was so recent that you can still find new/sealed games and sometimes even at bargain bin prices.
Currently I'm at 66 titles. Anyone else going for the complete library here?
I think it would be a good and fun challenge. I have some games digital and know myself I would want the retail copy too to count it. I am taking advantage on some of low prices to get my game inventory up. I wont go for the complete library i buy the games i intend to play.
I probably will be taking advantage of current circumstances to buy a Wii U used, as there are a lot of games for it that I really want to play.
The new and sealed games you find at cheap prices normally aren't the first party highly desirable titles. As an example look at NSBWiiU. Two and one half years later and it is still retail price. Also, it is hard to find some of the early launch titles still new and sealed. Nintendo must screw with production numbers somehow because even back to the Wii, many first party titles stayed on the shelves for a very short period of time. I have not been to a B&M store selling Pikmin 3 since a few months after release.
No in fact first parties (not exclusives, just fp) I usually buy at launch, but that's a Nintendo staple. They always were very conservative about their first party titles pricing. Knowing that i get the Nintendo titles "out of the way" when they come out and then wait for the third parties (unless i want to play them too).
In Europe distribution is not very good, but since not many people own a Wii U i easily tracked down many titles. Maybe in the US it is slightly different? Stores here have Pikmin 3 usually, for example..but funny enough they usually don't carry Deus Ex Augmented Edition or Monster Hunter (which here are both hard to find at good prices, when you find them , its full price 9 outta 10 times).
I think amiibos may cover a lot of costs for nintendo. They sell like gangbusters so far. Theres still no single game that locks out very important content. Its mostly present kind of stuff for owning the thing. And they work for multiple games. So you have a 12 dollar figurine work for multiple games and more down the line.
To me amiibos are not that great. Despite aknowledging that they lock content, I think they cover a lot of costs for nintendo. I mean yoshi woolly world could do very well, but with the amiibo itll be more of a succesful product overall. I mean for small projects like woolly world it isnt a big deal. But imagine a huge scale metroid game. With a bit of amiibo functionality, amiibo get sold and gets counted on top of the game sales. I mean it may not be a lot, but if it encourages nintendo to make big projects since theyre not wreckless but very conservative, by all means.
Tomonobu Itagaki's Devil's Third. Release date (Japan) 8/04/2015.

SO MUCH do NOT want. Keep that shit away from games I actually might want to play.
Those figurines have their place in the Skylanders/disney infinity sort of games. Things with huge casts of characters and a market full of little kids and/or collectors who want to obsess over everything.
But I absolutely don't want to see that crap spread out to "mainstream" games.
That looks interesting, but I'm assuming it will sell terribly on the Wii-U, it looks like a game that would be a much better reception on every platform except Nintendo's really.
The DOA/Ninja Gaiden influence is pretty obvious (unsurprisingly given who it's made by).
Anyone else pre-ordering Legend of Kay Anniversary? Also Mighty No. 9 PHYSICAL copy? F U digital downloads.
Anyone else annoyed by this? They announced a "Special Edition" Splatoon set -- but it's just the standard console bundled with a download code. Hella weak. I would've been legit tempted by an actual Splatoon console.
Devil's Third looks pretty interesting, shame it's published by Nintendo.
I'll probably get Might No. 9 not sure about Legend of Kay, I never played the original.
Would you rather have it not exist at all? That was the choice just like with Bayonetta 2. The games had already been turned down by other publishers.
Roy is being added to Smash Bros. along with Ryu, as well as Virtua Fighter costumes for Mii Fighters among other things:
did they really have to add another marth clone?
