You forgot to post Dragon Quest VII and VII for 3DS ya jerk! :(
My little brother just got a Wii U for Christmas.
Was $250 used with a pro controller, and 3 games:
-Super Smash Bros (don't give a shit)
-Mario Kart 8 (give a little shit)
-Nintendo Land (probably try the F-Zero thing, then never play it again)
Just glad my mom finally found a good deal, and didn't have to pay the outrageous $300 retail price. Yes, I'm over 21 and still live at home.
But I can't wait to play that racing game. I heard it comes out in December.
damn, i was really holding out for a WU B2G1 for bayo 2, mario maker & splatoon, but i blew my $ on everdrives last night, haha...no regrets
This may be a stupid question, but do they include the classic Marios in Mario Maker? or do you gotta get them on the Virtual Console?
^ I can take one guess given Nintendo's greedy track record, since... oh, you know. Forever!
I already got the games on Wii, 3DS, gotta pay for them a 3rd time?
I think not. Homebrew browser to the rescue!!
Mario Maker is simply for making your own Mario Levels and games. You can go online and share your levels with other people and some people have made their own games. However the styles for Mario 1, 3, World, and New Super Mario Bros are all available to use in creating those levels. I wouldn't be surprised if someone already recreated those games online for someone to download.
Sorry for the double post but I saw this on Reddit. Apparently Target's best selling item for Black Friday was the Wii U:

I have to say this was a bit unexpected. I'm curious now to see how well it did overall.
But it just kinda feels like common sense that they would include the classic Marios in them. The game friggen evolves around the classic Marios.
Anyways, is there any news about the open-world Zelda? I'm really not a Zelda fan, besides Zelda 2, but that game still catches my eye somehow.
The funny thing about Nintendo Land is how it had the potential of being another killer app like Wii Sports but naturally Nintendo half-assed it by not including online multi player or any way of significantly communicating with the people who show up in your plaza. Many of the games would have been so much better if you didn't have to rely on finding someone in person to play.
So I think Hell just froze over. Nintendo and Mojang have announced that Minecraft is coming to the Wii U and it's being published in Europe and Japan by...
Microsoft.
This game finally comes to Nintendo only a few years short. This console just can not get a break.
I agree. Too little too late.
This would have been amazing 2 or 3 years ago but by now, not that many people care.
I still think it can be a good version if it makes good use of the second screen controller. I just don't think it's going to move very many WiiU units at this point.
I'm a little bit surprised it's coming to WiiU considering Microsoft owns it now. Maybe even they know it won't move hardware for Nintendo, and they just want to make a bit of cash on the game's software sales.
This is friggen hilarious. I love how that Mojang employee is acting like no one was expecting them to use the tablet controller for inventory:

In other news, Fast Racing Neo came out last week:
The title music sounds like a blatant ripoff of a song I've heard before:

Anyways I'm gradually getting more stoked on this game. The Wii U might actually have the best 8th gen racing game. I'm serious, theres jack shit on PS4 or Xboner.
And hopefully Nintendo is watching this to see how it does. They're still discouraged about F-Zero because GX only sold 500,000 copies.
I'm seriously underwhelmed by the prospect of Fast Racing Neo; as far as I can tell, it's an F Zero game- without being an F Zero game. From the footage I've seen, I've spotted boost pads, healing strips, and music somewhat analogous to GX, yet it lacks all of the charm of the F Zero universe that we've come to love. I feel like Nintendo made the financial decision to omit giving us a new entry in the F Zero series for the Wii U, due to tenuous reasons publicly given by Miyamoto of wanting to innovate on the formula instead of "rehashing" previous entries. That's a laughable excuse from Nintendo, as I'd argue that they've been rehashing games in established series for quite some time now with no innovation to the formula- only superficial gimmicks at best.
As I see it, their lack of interest in a Wii U F Zero games is because the Wii U hasn't sold nearly as many units as projected, and commands a small market share relative to it's competitors. It would make little sense from their perspective to "waste" an entry in the F Zero series on the Wii U, particularly when the previous effort (F Zero GX) didn't perform very well in sales- they're saving it for the NX. With their recent trend of releasing HD remakes of previous generation titles, I'd pay full price no questions asked for an HD port of F Zero GX on the Wii U, with added online multiplayer and rankings.
At this point my Wii U is my dedicated Mario Kart 8 machine (easily put in over 200 hours into it), which I think is a stone cold AAA title. I wasn't hooked by SSB4 like I was with Melee on the Cube (probably my most played title on that console), and I was also underwhelmed by Super Mario 3D World.
I'd really like to know the opinions of Wii U owners on this board regarding those who have purchased Xenoblade Chronicles X. From what I've seen, it looks like a tedious, drawn out consolized MMORPG, with completely forgettable JRPG archetypal characters. What I was hoping for from early previews was a local/online coop rpg experience similar to Phantasy Star Online, but it sounds like there's no couch multiplayer. Anyone here recommend giving it a shot?
*obligatory "wise fwom your gwave!"*
Well, it's been a while, but...
I personally didn't feel it was really that tedious or drawn-out. X handles side quests better than the original did (trying to complete quests in XBC is probably why I haven't finished it), and you can accomplish a lot just from your regular wandering around exotic Mira, meeting interesting and stimulating creatures of an ancient world, and killing them. The multiplayer aspect is not important enough to mention. It's nice for a bit of interaction, but it's not the reason anybody is buying the game. The characters are absolutely forgettable. The story is weak, and especially disappointing since it's so easy to see how it could've been made a million times better with a few simple changes (namely to the tone...the setup is dark, but entirely wasted. It could've been just a regular colonization effort gone wrong -more along the lines of something like Space Above and Beyond- and nothing would change. At no point do you ever feel like you're actually on the edge of total annihilation).
The main draw is in exploring the world itself. If that looks fun, then it's recommendable. X basically takes the exploration aspect of the original XBC and makes an entire game out of it...and throws in mechs.
bonus pic of my team of mechs: http://i.imgur.com/cuOatND.jpg ...the Urban skell looks reasonably close to the Legioss/Alpha fighter from Mospeada/Robotech, so that's what I based my team on....and the Urban's ground vehicle mode is a motorcycle, which ties right in with Mospeada.
