MSX fans?

Konami shut down the worlds biggest MSX forum , for apparently featuring too many of their MSX games.

I personally love the system, many exclusive games, even the fun VAMPIRE KILLER, the very first metroid/castlevania which came out months after the NES version.

I love Snatcher on MSX but the shooting scenes are way harder than Sega CD. SHALOM is a strange rpg with no battles, that i cannot figure out. There are translations in english ,spanish and portuguese .. nothing.

Best game I played on it was Xak 1 and Illusion City.. the music in Illusion City is much nicer than the remade Mega CD one. Dont know why they messed with perfection.

I've been thinking for a while now that Konami will be next in line for what's happened to Square-enix and Capcom. It looks like I was right. Way to go Konami. Alienating your fans and staunchest supporters always equals an increase in revenue. :thumbsup:

As for MSX, I could only ever get one out of three games to run properly on emulators, so I can't say that I was ever really into it. Still a great system, though. Too bad the US port flopped.

^strange, BlueMSX is by far the best emulator and has played at least every english or spanish translation ever made for the system. Along with stock Japanese games that needed no reprogramming (Vampire Killer, Knightmare 1 & 2 )

I almost always have it set to 'turboMSX' system setting , if that dosnt work then MSX2+ will

I'm a big fan of the MSX Gradius / Salamander games, as well as Parodius. Konami's SCC audio is great when it's not coming from that common MIDI adaption software.

Also, Vampire Killer came out after the FDS version of Akumajou Dracula...

Vampire Killer is a whole other game w rpg elements. Also Gollevious for msx is better in my opinion than SMS. There are two versions on msx but I may be wrong. War of the Dead 2 has a full translation despite being action. Fray is completely different from the PCE CD version.

I had an MSX in the 80s, but don't feel inclined to re-visit it nowadays.

I use blueMSX. I am a US native so we never really had the MSX as a mainstream computer. Regardless, I think it's a brilliant little computer. One of the best if not THE best Japanese 8-bit machines of its time. Very addictive games.

A quick look at ebay shows that not only are MSX games pricey, but holy crap the computers themselves must be made of gold and bald eagles' tears. They can't be that scarce. What are you doing, snerds? You gonna let some computer people spend more money than you?

One of the coolest things about the MSX is how many different sound chips it has lol.

The system had many.Konami exclusives, and probably the most ports from other systems and arcades in gaming history, including the finally popular FF1, which was a port that improved unlike other ports that were from more powerful systems and how to downgrade.

That music for Undead Line is awesome.

It's funny how the MSX was an unofficial platform for Konami, just like the Turbografx was for Hudson.

My first real personal computer experience was an MSX2 at school, we played so many of those awesome Konami games.
I think they were all made for the MSX1 because they look pretty simple compared to the stuff you guys are showing off here.
But imo they were some of the best games I ever played, Yie Ar Kung-Fu, Yie Ar Kung-Fu 2, King's Valley, Athletic Land,
Antarctic Adventure, those Konami Hyper Sports games, Konami Boxing, the racing games, etc etc.

Such great colorful games, with amazing music to boot.

I'm so happy that I was there from the start, to experience it all from the beginning.
