Ah, I wasn't even aware that flight sticks were made for PS1. I didn't even know that WC IV had a console version until recently. The PS1 library is just so massive. I remember when a friend of mine bought a PS1 BITD. We went to several stores to shop for games. Every store had an almost completely different selection of PS1 games. It was really confusing. He had no idea what to buy.
He settled on Cyberia. Then, we rented Resident Evil a few weeks later, and stayed up all night playing it. OOPS.

Sanvein is kind of mediocre, but I actually like it. The inertia and moving playfield is kind of annoying, but it's a pretty bizarre game that can be fun. I picked one up brand new this past year for $4.00, ha ha.

Yeesh, I don't know about this one. I bought into the hype and was majorly let down by a slow, clunky, and unrewarding non-game. D2 was much better, but that's like the comparison of a 2/10 vs. a 5/10. Considering the other survival horror/RE games on the PS1, even the low-end imitators (Galerians, TRAG) are more worth playing.

I just picked up Volume 5 for Legend of Valkyrie and Dragon Spirit. The polish and content on the Namco Museum compilations are worthy of the highest praise. It's too bad that no other company tried to make retro compilations as fun and diverse as these. Legend of Valkryie is itself pretty fun; it's definitely worth firing up in MAME for those who haven't tried it.

Cyberia, ha! Played a lot of Cyberia 2 on the PC; weird but cool.

About the PS1 library, yes, it takes a long time digging up to have a good idea about what it actually has.

Sure, it's not a masterpiece by any means IMO. But I think it has its own style and since Bottino was asking for early games, I thought it would be a really good one to show the state of the things at the time.
Enemy Zero on the Saturn is also much better IMO.

Something that the PS1 Namco Museum offers and that the PS2's doesn't is TATE support for a lot of those games.
For CRT old school gaming nuts such as me it's like drugs.

All I can do as a PS1 and Saturn owner is just sit back and smile, the console wars never end. Both consoles give me the enjoyment I want, even though the 3d hasn't held up well, but I've warmed up to it to an extent. I can't say that about generations after just yet, maybe in time. In my house, though I am the only owner of both systems, this is a Sony/Sega/Nintendo gamer right here.

The 3D Metal Gear games seem very overrated to me.

My brother eventually got into this series big time by even playing the MSX games too. And while he was playing them, he said they were much better then the 3D ones. Especially the second MSX game (and no bias effecting him either. He's strickly a Nintendo fanboy).

We pretty much have all the Metal Gear games and even the big collection with all of them that include the MSX ones up to at least PS2 era. Though I'm saving the MG games for MSX for when my next MSX binge hits, the 3D ones I've never played after the first 3D game only plathrough I've done and I'm really still not in the mood for another 3D MGS game. I really don't know why for sure? As I really enjoyed playing MGS the first time. It really was an interesting first experience back then with stuff like the game knowing I've been playing SoTN, Phsyco Mantis, gamepad vibrator medic some in game chick suggested (lol), etc. But replay. Zip. Nothing. Wished I would of just rented it & saved the money for something replayable.

Konami really seemed to slip in making replayable games with this era. Even Gradius Gaiden almost feel victim to this by almost not having any extra loops. But only one guy on the teams said it had to be in there and made a lot of noise for it to be included.

I second that. The Saturn was my favorite system of the 32-bit era, one might even be tempted to call me Saturn Fan(although we're nothing alike) but, i also has a PSX back in the day and it rocked.

And for the record, most of the Capcom fighter ports turned out decent/good on PSX as well.

If if they were, why play them with a PS1 gamepad over a Saturn one? The answer was and will always be a no-brainer to me.

SF alpha 3, Darkstalkers 3, Capcom Vs SNK Pro, and Jojo's bizarre Adventure were all solid ports that looked and played good.

I had SFA3 PS1 (since Saturn was Japan only). Playing as the same characters results in more animation frames for this version.

I was impressed Capcom made the game as in-tact as it was. Very faithful looking port.

And the last two Vs games, MSH Vs SF and Marvel Vs Capcom, turned out surprisingly well. Aside from not having true tag-team gameplay, the games looked & played great.

Although it did have a tag-team mode that worked well, you were fighting clones each time. It let you pick one to keep but, your second character would be switched out for somebody else in each round.

I find this interview very interesting. It's old and the quality of the video is awful but the sound is clear.
