While I agree it's stupid, this has been the norm in Japan for years. Even the AV Famicom didn't come with the AC adapter.

It's like they want to fail.

Still not an excuse. Nintendo need to wise up, but alas, dead horse and all that.

I dont see the big issue with the AC adapter,just buy one with the system if you dont already have one?

Because why should customers have to pay for an AC adapter for a console that has a built-in rechargeable battery, that's just penny pinching to the extreme.

Bet it won't be cheap either.

I don't see what the big deal about including a controller with a home console is.
You can just buy one with the system if you don't already have one.

Or any AV hookups at all for a home console.

As mentioned above, if you need it just to get the system up and playing at all (for more than a few minutes if lucky enough to have that much of a charge), then it should be included.

This is clearly their plan to make more money with the 3DS, because they created a proprietary port for the charger.


You remember how Microsoft made people buy a DVD kit to play DVDs on the Original Xbox? this is the same thing, except 10x more outrageous.

That was actually understandable, so MS didn't have to pay DVD licensing fees for every Xbox sold.

I believe Windows 8 also lacks DVD playback codec for the same reason.

And its why they didn't advertise the DVD playback of the Xbox that much.
