Not including an AC adapter is a pretty big issue unless you purchase a hand held in order to look at it rather than use it.
The Nintendo bean counters are showing their ugly heads.

Nintendo should let people use eneloops, that would solve a lot of problems.
They did:

And what about the PS Vita not coming with a memory card? That's required for the system to work and costs far more than the AC adapter. Where's the outrage and cries of cheapness about that?
I was speaking about the nintendo products that I own. If they didn't include the AC Adapter, I would not purchase any of those products.
I know that you enjoy coming to Nintendo's defense but you need to quit being a Google warrior. The decision not to include the AC adapter is plain stupid.
Just because American gamers didn't know about it, it doesn't make it any less crappy of a move. It's still crap.

Sony ripping people off for memory cards is old news. They did it on the PSP, so people were used to it by the time the PS Vita came out. That's what Nintendo needs to do - stop shipping anything with AC adaptors to get people used to it. :D
And you need to learn to start reading posts more carefully. If you go back, you'll see I COMPLETELY AGREE THAT IT'S A STUPID IDEA! The point I was bringing up is that it's nothing new. They did this with the 3DS XL in Europe, and they've done it with most of their consoles and handhelds in Japan. They're just trying to see if they can get away with it here now.
Um, no you can't? When it's out of power it's out of power. I think you meant to say "At least the PS Vita doesn't charge you $10 for an AC adapter to charge the system." which is true. But Sony does charge you $30 at minimum for a memory card that is required to play most games on the thing. So at the end of the day, both are charging you for something that should come standard in the system. Sony's is more expensive for an already expensive system, Nintendo's is cheap but something that's a bit dickish to not include. So pick your poison.
I meant from True Grave in particular.
I did read your post. What irked me is the fact that you decided to mention in the same statement that "this has been the norm in Japan for years".
In your most recent statement of defense, you've gone ahead and brought up the issue about the SONY PS Vita and the fact that it doesn't come with a memory card. Does it any more legitimize Nintendo's decision not to include an AC adapter that allows you to use the handheld? No, of course not. So why even bring that up if you are not trying to wholeheartedly defend Nintendo's decision not to include the AC adapter?
There is little doubt that I'll continue to enjoy the Nintendo products that I currently own but this latest news has definitely affected whether I will purchase any other products in the near future. I personally won't support "penny pinching" antics like this one.
And it HAS been the norm in Japan for years. the 3DS, 3DS LL, New 3DS, New 3DS LL, The AV Famicom, Super Famicom, etc. all didn't come with AC adapters. I'm simply pointing out it's not something they've just decided to do to be dicks like some people here seem to think. They're obviously testing the waters. Don't want it to catch on? Protest it and don't buy it. But considering that preorders are already selling out, I doubt that's going to have much of an effect.
I brought it up because True Grave went off on a complete nonsense hissy fit. If he's that pissed about $10 AC adapter, he must be truly pissed about needing a $30 Memory card.
This is a problem that's been going on here for a while now. This stupid mindset of thinking in absolute "with us or against us" is what's turning this place into a shithole.
It is in fact possible to agree that a decision is stupid but also point out it's part of a long line of stupid, without actually defending the decision. It's also possible to point out that someone is being a hypocrite about said bad decision without actually defending it.
is anyone else disappointed that the standard sized new 3ds is not being released in the us? I skipped the 3ds xl and wanted to upgrade but seeing as the new 3ds xl is going to be the only option, i'm sticking with my original 3ds.
I'm not. The 3DS XL screen is actually big enough to not give me a headache/eyestrain. All previous, non XL Nintendo handhelds did. Even the DS lite, but I could use that one the longest, of the older ones.
Others will want the standard size because it's easier to carry around, and I get that.
To be fair, nobody knew that Nintendo didn't include the AC with the 3DS XL because nobody bought a 3DS XL.
