Yeah, but it makes sense if you consider that such ebay profile seemed to be his actual modding store and he probably moved it to his own website in order to get rid of the fees.

Surprised nobody has thought of this yet but im going to email him and ask about a mod just to see if i get a response, will let you know if he replies.
Whelp, I submitted a complaint to IC3. This guy has left me no other choice. It's out of my hands. If he gets screwed over, it's his own fault.
Wow zetastrike this sucks. It's just a sucky situation to be in. It really does/did look like CRT was trying to start up a modding business for himself. From that aspect it is really odd that he would try to scam one of his first customers. Hopefully you get the issue resolved and get your systems back.
Sorry to hear this, I'd try to do whatever you can to get reimbursed, but your hardware is likely gone.
I know a lot of modders on this and similar forums, but hadn't heard of this guy before. Regardless of his reliability, I think if I saw this, I'd immediately say, uh, yeah, no thank you. :daze:

I don't like the look of av outs on the side either, and putting that many on the one side looks disgusting IMHO. And does anyone know what the gray bar sticking out the back is? But I see nothing that would make me be unwilling to use the guy as a modder. Presumably he would stick av outs where and in what manner the customer wanted. It would be an unwillingness to do it the way the customer wants or shitty modwork on the inside that would prevent me from using a person. That said I do all my own work because I have the skills and it's so much cheaper.
That said his NESRGB install prices would have sent me running. But I think that's about the norm most modders charge. 25$ to install the 3d printed multiout? I could see $10
As I try to get a chargeback, here's my new WTB thead if anyone has some hardware they'd want to sell me

It's a dial to tune in your component. I have a similar mod setup, but it has a CCAM mod, a cxa2075 chip replacement, and the dial is tiny. I never got the component to work, but with the cxa2075 chip the composite looks great so I just went on with life (paid $75 including shipping on ebay so 2/3 working is no big loss).
Wonderful, component mod would be a pain to get working in my non-stolen genesis.
I trusted this guy....
I hope I was the only one he was "working" for
I can see modifying these systems for a simple S-Video port, but seeing the conga line of multiple A/V ports looks so chintzy. SCART to component converters and new cables that convert RGB to component are improving all the time. There's just no point for the excess of ports.
If I find some cheap neglected Genesis systems, I'll just customize and mod them myself as clean and stock-looking as possible. It might be worthwhile to compile a list of trustworthy, proven video game repair and mod services.
What would be the best scart to component converter for $100 max?
Ah I see. That makes sense. About not getting the component to work is it because of your TV. Some HDTVs just can't do 240p over component. I have one such TV. But I have two HDTVs that can do it quite well. And of course it looks great on a component equipped CRT.
But yeah that dial in the pic is way overkill.
My tv works with 240p. I don't have a modern day HDTV. I use a Sony Trinitron. I have a great SCART set-up that works. It just never worked on this particular modded system for some reason. Still couldn't care less. There are some games that just need that blur so I use the system for that with the CXA2075 encoder making the colors bright and crisp while still maintaining enough blur to create an expanded color pallet that is just dithering.
I brought this up a while ago trying to set up shop to distribute these. They are discontinued to my knowledge. I found what I thought to be a source of new old stock, but they would not response to my e-mails so I dropped the issue. I was lucky enough to get mine for $30 shipped from Egypt a few years ago off of ebay. Nobody was paying attention maybe? Anyway, the picture is much brighter and crisp with this converter than common one they sell on ebay and amazon. It also have the audio go straight through which was a HUGE bonus with the other HUGE bonus of a mounting rack built in. y other kept sliding all over the place because the cords are heavier than the unit.
