1st Gen ps1 games were the best

they had the most personality. Even NFL Gameday 96 and 97 (before they went polygon) were fantastic to play, then they got crappy.

Another example , Kings Field, wow what an ahead of its time game as well as the early Vandal Hearts. It was my first ever strategy RpG (other than Dark Wizard) .

Some games are just damn fun and are unique like Blood Omen or Project Overkill

Destruction Derby was great was well, so many good first gen ps1 games, and I love Beyond the Beyond, maybe for nostalgic reasons though

2D PS1/Saturn games are awesome, really makes you wish there was a bigger focus on them than that crappy 3D.

It's a light gun racing game with inaccurate polygon-based graphics where instead of car you drive a Taz-rip off, instead of shooting you jump and you use a regular pad instead of a light gun; but it's mostly certainly definitely light gun racing game by the standard definition.
And 3D? No, surely not. It's 2.73974D due to its fixed camera - clearly not as advanced as Super Mario 64 glorious camera system. Get your facts straight!

There's a game called "tail of the sun". It not not that early (1996), but I loved it to death.

It's a weird caveman game where you explore a world, kill animals, get stronger, and build a stack of mammoth tusks to reach the sun.
I always remember there being this strange running mushroom thing with human legs. None of my friends would believe me. I emulated the game a few years back and I found it!

Micro Maniacs is one of my all time favourite PS games, I love playing it now. It's just really good fun, and I love the characters if they are a little unbalanced in places. It's a great follow up to the 16 bit era Micro games.

By the way, if anyone can tell me how to embed a YT video into a forum post I'd be chuffed, I've Googled to no avail!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:

Games using real time 3D graphics didn't really get good all around until Dreamcast. Before that they just weren't as well designed, save for the racing games, perhaps, and games using fixed perspectives like Crash Bandicoot. There were a few outliers here and there as well (Conker's Bad Fur Day, the Spyro games, etc.). But for the most part the 3D polygonal games just weren't great, IMHO.

Tomb Raider was nice I reckon, good eerie atmosphere in the early levels and smooth controls. Though looking back I can see how a lot of games have aged badly.
