I just scored probably the best SEGA listing this year off eBay
I still can't believe what I just got here. So a few days ago, I was on eBay checking for any new Sega Genesis games that were listed and might be interested in. The first thing on top of the eBay listings, I see a SEGA CD JVC X'EYE with a BIN of $40. I didn't even hesitate to read the description if it was broken or not because even a broken X'EYE can still be pretty damn valuable and the picture, it showed the cables and an official X'EYE controller.
I ran to my brother because I was a few dollars short and yelled at him, "Bro! I need to borrow $65 right now, I'll pay you back in 2 days!!" He knows I pay back and don't ever really ask him for money so he thankfully agreed. I thankfully got through the whole buying process with a huge smile in my face but then I went back to the listing to check out the rest of the pictures. It wasn't just an X'EYE he/she was selling...
He/She was also including a fucking boxed 32X, Sega CD games. Sega Genesis and a few other stuff.
In my mind I was thinking, "OK, DID I JUST REALLY PAY $65 FOR ALL THIS???"
I thought at first that this possibly a listing error or a scam by someone who needed money quick. I was crossing my fingers hoping he/she wouldn't refund me saying that it was an error or some jackass back-doored me but amazingly no messages like that were sent and the seller later mark the listing as 'shipped'.
As I was waiting for this package I was thinking that they are probably going to just sent pictures of the items or there was going to be rocks inside. I mean 2 things happended that made me believe this was possibly legit. The package arrived after 3
1. This was the only thing the seller was selling and in the pictures. The back of the pictures looked like an empty house and may have wanted to selling things they weren't taken with them.
2.They shipped it without any questions or refunding me back.
3.I got a slip in my inbox saying that a package was waiting for me in the office.
So I take it home and made 3 videos of the unboxing.
This 1st part has me opening it without knowing what may have really been in there.
So as you saw in those videos, not only was the package legit, it came with much more! The most amazing thing is that the X'EYE that I thought was just the system and cables was fucking BOXED!
So yes guys, it's 2015 and deals like this are still out there, SURPRISINGLY still in places like eBay off all things, haha.
I'm still pretty shaky to have come across this but yeah this is just insane for me.
Thanks for reading!

I have no freaking clue man, I honestly feel that it was some parent just wanting to get rid of of some old stuff.

Well, looking at their feedback, they don't sell too much (or buy for that matter). It's a classic case of "they had no idea what it was worth, and didn't bother looking." They just wanted a quick buck. It's also a prime example of how you should always research everything you sell or buy.
I see you also nabbed it a mere 7 minutes after it was posted. I've scored a few amazing BINs that fast too. It almost feels like stealing... almost.

You guys think it's worth modding s-video to it or just leave it alone?
I actually don't know because for one, at this point I can tell the difference between composite and s-video but I also know this system is a bit rare to come by. It's in great condition, all stickers are fully there.

ehh it's your system, i forget if it does RGB? but as long as you get a good modder & that's the best signal you're gonna get/want i say go for it; genesis composite is pretty bad sometimes and that beauty should be seen in a better signal.

Since you have complete doubles now, you should pay it forward and sell them cheap to the community.

Hehe! I saw your video this morning and was quite surprised to see that you snagged such a good deal on ebay! I was grinning to myself after I saw you pull each item out of the box! Congratulations! :D

I don't own one, But If it outputs rgb, I'd look into rgb to component. Does a Model 2 genesis cable fit it?? if the pinouts are the same maybe the cable helder is working on would work. I dunno but I'd ask around before during anything else.

God damn. Nice deal.
The X'Eye does RGB (it uses the same connector as a model 2), so unless you really hate external converters, I wouldn't bother modding it, but that's me.

I'm willing to do the Scart to RGB/component method if it is indeed possible to use a genesis model 2 RGB cable and the JVC IS RGB compatible.

Great to know it does! But I won't be doing it anytime soon, considering that little converter box is over $50.

Personally, I would keep the system in original condition. Whatever anybody tells you, don't mod it. It's a pretty uncommon item which is why it's fetches a pretty penny. AND you are lucky enough to have it complete in box! Pretty damn sweet man! Pretty damn sweet!

I know man, I'm honestly feeling like just leaving it alone because of that, first time I felt like that for a console lol.
I spend a good 45 removing all that tape around it.

Hehehe! Money well spent. 32X, a Lunar game, and Splatterhouse 3? Yep you did good son! You did very good! When time avails itself make sure to post an impressions video of the console and each of the games you snagged. :D

Amazing! Miracles do happen! Really happy for you man, nice to see someone genuine get a helping hand building their collection to play, not to resell!
And yeah, don't mod the X'EYE - use an RGB -> Component converter. Component looks a lot better than S-Video anyway.

Not sure what all the positivity is about here, is no one JEALOUS? What's wrong with you people?! Why do we not hate Thunderblaze16?
Seriously though, great score there! I wouldn't want one myself but I get the significance, I wouldn't sleep for a week getting over the high from such a purchase, well done.
Still hate you just a little bit though.

Son of a........ nice haul!
Reminds me of the time something I dearly wanted, Arkanoid Returns on the PS1, had a nice actual auction on ebay. In the end I was the only bidder, 99 cents, with $4.95 shipping. Game was complete and mint. Not a find this big of course, but damn is that nice.

 Mother of God... *wipes sweat off of brow*. I thought I made some great deals and some miraculous repairs recently, but nowhere near the level of this haul. You've just won SEGA-16 and eBay for the day! Congraturation! A winner is you!

I actually bought an X-Eye back in the day (& still have it) because it was at a massive price drop at EB and I still didn't have a Sega CD by then and always wanted one. But is the X-Eye any good? Is it better then a model 2 genesis? How does the audio compare to a model 1 HD? And other things in how it compares to model 1 and 2 Genesis & Sega CD. Thanks in advance.

Something I've been knocking around in my head for a while is a site that is like ebay, but you have to somehow prove you are a collector/game player rather than reseller, so prices are not inflated and you can be sure what you are selling is going to someone genuine. I have no idea how you would validate users though, maybe people have to provide a list of games they want and ID of some sort? I don't know.

Absolutely great find/deal you snagged there my friend! Chances of seeing that kind of thing in the wild like that, while no re-sellers grabbing it first is unreal. Talk about being at the right place at the right time.

So would it be possible to grab that Splatterhouse 3 double from you? I've always wanted that one but it's always way to expensive to track down. If so, I'll pay it forward with another game to someone else
Has there been a thread like that here? Like a pay it forward thread for people to do just that. Not sure how it would be regulated as far as keeping resellers out, but I like the idea.

Game Gavel seems to have lower prices than ebay. Obviously their selection is nothing like ebay. But the prices seem cheaper.

My only doubles where Splatterhouse 3, Shinobi III, Mrs.Pacman and Sonic. I'll be later selling Shinobi III, Mrs.Pacman, Sonic and a small portion of the lot but as for Splatterhouse 3, I'm honestly a big fan of the game as it focuses a lot in the gore section and it's an overall unique game on the Sega Genesis. I wouldn't mind having a second copy of it, having 3 copies, now that's kind of overdoing it and wouldn't hesitate in selling it. Maybe later in the future I'll trade it for another Genesis/SNES title but for now I'm keeping it as I just find it kickass as it's one of the few Genesis games I wouldn't mind having a second copy of.

I never had much luck finding anything reasonably priced there, I'll have to give it another shot.
