Mine has to be Super Mario RPG. It is just a game that does not take itself seriously and is very funny. It has a great personality and is fun. It also has the best graphics of any SNES game. (yes, better than DKC) The only downfall is it is a little bit on the easy side.
Earthbound, hands down. The graphics aren't that great, but damn its a good console RPG. Very quirky and reminds me of being 9 years old whenever I play it. Plus, the Dad in Earthbound is the most useful side character in video game history.
Super Castlevania IV - Why? Because there is no better game on the system, period. I knew when I first played the Super Famicom version that it would be the best game ever made for the system. I was right. It was almost as if all of the other developers saw Super Castlevania IV and decided that they couldn't compete with it, so they didn't even try.
Zelda: LTTP, Skyblazer, Super Mario World, and Super Metroid are all contenders for that role.
Chrono Trigger and FFVI would be as well if not for the fact that they're not really exclusive (even thought Zelda and Mario are mercilessly ported, they stay with nintendo).
But I generally dislike many games in it's library, so I really didn't give it that much thought.
Super Cv IV is my least favorite castlevania game ever. . .behind even the 2nd Gameboy vania. But that particular tangent has it's own thread.
Super Soccer is the greatest, it couldn't resemble soccer any less, the music is awful but amazingly charming, but its got amazing gameplay that will keep you up until 7 o clock in the morning, what a game!
I haven't played many SNES games, however, I going to go with Super Mario Kart. It's awesome for two-player romps and it has no equal on the Mega Drive.
I was extremely bored last week and compiled a list of every SNES game I've ever played, complete with a score and a summarized written opinion on it. So yeah, I'm rather prepared for this thread.
Super Metroid. The finest game of all-time, in my opinion.. endlessly replayable, largely due to its many quirks.
It's split between Super Metroid and Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.
I haven't played that many SNES titles. Mainly the most famous ones. My favourites are Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger, but I played both of them on my Sony PlayStation.
To be honest I haven't played many SNES titles being the blatantly biased person I am but I love Yoshi's Island. Baby Mario's annoying WAHHHH will put a fist into your head but other than that its an awsome game IMO.
Yoshi's Island is indeed fantastic. That'd be my #2.
Turtles in Time - The greatest Turtles game ever released for a home console.
Hmm, tough one. Aside from its trio of best RPGs (EarthBound, FF 3/6, Mario RPG), I have to say that I'm a really big fan of Kirby Super Star.
I didn't think Yoshi's Island was that great. The level design was kind of blah, the music was dull and had too few tracks reused over and over, and I really don't endorse the "collect 5 suns and 5 red tokens" crap. And if I'm going to get graded on every level, it should be based on actual performance or something, not based on my willingness to waste time collecting stupid shit.
I've never understood why people consider"Yoshi's Island" a Mario game.
I've always seen it as a Yoshi game.
I consider Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island one of the most overrated games of all time - it's utter tosh. The baby is annoying, the game is slow, the levels are uninspiring and all it seems to have going for it, in my opinion, is pretty graphics and the Mario name.
