By that I mean sites that focus on the 16 and 8-bit gens, with a site layout as attractive as this one.
I've been searching far and wide, and can't find any. It's strange because you'd figure there'd be a site dedicated to NES and SNES (and Game Boy) like this one is dedicated to Genesis (and now, SMS and Game Gear).
I wonder if Nintendo folks are similarly divided among Nintendo of Japan fans on one side and Howard Lincoln worshipers on the other... =P

There are plenty of Nintendo fansites out there, but most don't focus on only one platform.
I think this used to be more of a thing than it is now. While Nintendo was high on their massive Wii and DS success, you could make a good case that Iwata's centralized Japan-led company which got rid of most independence the branches used to have and gave up on capturing the Western hardcore market after their failure to hold them on Gamecube as they had on N64 (thanks to Microsoft's entry) was pretty good. Howard Lincoln and Minoru Arakawa's leadership from the '90s is the alternative. They had a lot of independence, good developer outreach to major Western studios, built up a strong team of first, second, and third party studios in the US and also Rare in Europe; Howard Lincoln had a key role in Nintendo's acquisition of, did well with the Super Nintendo thanks in part to DKC (which, again, happened because of Lincoln), then did about as well with the N64 thanks to good marketing and that strong team of developers -- Howard Lincoln was there when Retro and NST were set up (Nintendo's two American first-party studios), when Rare, Left Field, and Silicon Knights became second parties (all left Nintendo after he did), and Nintendo got good software support from major American third parties such as Lucasarts, Midway, Acclaim, EA, and more.Quote:

Masamune, the owner of the website, stated that SEGA-16 was an inspiration for creating "SNES HUB". Looking at the forums, it has some low level of activity! But to get to increase exposure, he may need to invest a bit of time and money advertising the site. Social media and interacting with gaming forums also will help.
Can there be a SNES equivalent of SEGA-16? Of course!
The reason that this web site is popular is because of it's members. Some have the technical knowledge of the inner workings of the console, some are interested in the software & creating homebrew games, some with SEGA's history, and others are simply fans. Together we've got a nice little community.
Msamune or anyone for that matter just needs to foster a similar welcoming climate to develop a similar burgeoning community like this one.

I don't usually visit Nintendo forums because they're mostly for Nintendo fans. I am a NES and SNES fan myself but it's because of amazing third party games those systems had. I don't like any Nintendo game that much except some early famicom stuff like Ice Climber or Excitebike which I adore. Now the most Nintendo fan sites are all about Mario, Zelda and Wii/WiiU. There are exceptions though, like Famicomworld which is really useful for Famicom collecting needs. SNESCentral was promising and has a nice games database but the forum is barely breathing. I've yet to find another community as amazing as Sega-16.
The site is not dead! The website's most recent article is dated March 15 2015. Scrolling through the forums, I believe the site just recently celebrated it's third anniversary.Quote:

With respect to the forums, the type of platform used is not really relevant. If the content is engaging enough, members will use the forums to communicate with each other and he's managed to garner some level of activity.
