NGDEVTEAM'S NEW NEO GEO GAME: KRAUT BUSTER (METAL SLUG CLONE?)

So today, I was sitting at my desk munching on some carrots feeling like an OG Bugs Bunny! ((((CRUNCH :p CRUNCH))))

So I pop onto my email and lo and behold discover an email from NGDEVTEAM announcing a new NEO GEO MVS/AES game. (((SWEET))) [I don't own a NEO GEO but I am always excited when a game is released for the system]

Anyways, I check out the trailer and I was surprised to see that the game looks like a crude Metal Slug!

After scrolling through the comments, alot of NEO GEO afficionados were not too happy with the look and feel of the game. In one exchange with the developer, a person was disappointed that it was not more akin with an Ikari style game. Alot of commentators requested their hope that it would be released for the Dreamcast. :DThis evening I decided to check out the Youtube trailer again and I was surprised to see that the comments are now disabled (:!:)

I personally thought that the game looks okay. Sure it's a little rough but it's still a work in progress. I was wondering what others thought? Even if ressembles Metal Slug in gameplay and design, I would have expected that most NEO GEO fans would welcome the game with open arms.

Metal Slug? I don't see the resemblance at all.

It's certainly looking like it's massively derivative of MS, but I think it looks pretty good considering it's work in progress (the jump will most probably be fixed for example, same with the repetitive sound FX).

Certainly not as poor as some are making it out to be. Question is, could the machine have benefited from something a bit more unique to the library? Apparently this does not affect the Ikari style game they hinted at earlier, so that's still on the cards at least.

A beat 'em up would have been interesting especially since the Neo is a bit light on quality examples in that area, and it really shouldn't be.

I'm glad they're doing something that isn't a shmup for a change, and the fact that it's a run 'n gun only makes me more glad.

I can't even begin to care how much of a Metal Slug rip-off it is; if you're gonna rip off a franchise, that's the one to hit. Just please release this for the DC.

Agree 100%

The action and pacing look like they need a little work to reach MS quality, but it's definitely a good start. Let's badger them for a DC release with lots of bug testing.

I wish that they would have gone for something more ala Contra, since the Neo Geo already has a bunch of Metal Slugs. Still, looks pretty promising.

A RPG for the NeoGeo (and DC) using their artist's awesome capabilities to draw 2D graphics would be very cool. Just imagine battles with characters and backgrounds similar to SNK fighting games.
One shame the developers of the 5th generation were so worried to make those horrible 3D graphics for the Saturn/PSX.

I'll wait for the bootleg
