I think I have finally got a favorite game in this generation. I loved Demon's Souls and Dark Souls 1, but Dark Souls 2 while being a more polished game failed to capture the dreadful atmosphere of its predecessors and felt quite "soulless" to me. Bloodborne finally delivers those magic feelings again.
Also this is how a 3D Castlevania game should've been done. Lords of Shadow were meh.
I think it looks pretty but holds no real interest to me.
I don't have a PS4 yet, and this won't change my mind. But when I do get one (it's not an if, just a when) I might pick it up on the cheap.
The game is a phenomenon with stellar ratings. It is not a flop or generic like all the Sony haters around here are claiming it to be. I just got my copy and I'll be posting my initial impressions later today or tomorrow.

Bloodborne is the only current-gen game that interests me so far.
I can't justify buying a PS4 just for one game, though. The library is still too weak for my tastes.
I tried my hands at Dark Souls and it really isn't my thing, even though the game seems to have a solid RPG underbelly, it plays too much like a brawler for my tastes, and this pretty much looks like more of the same. I really doubt I'd enjoy this. I'm probably going to get a PS4 eventually, though, as Persona 5 looks amazingly awesome.

BTW, lets stay on topic. Bloodborne is well worth your time. Its not for everyone that for sure. But the vast majority of reviewers seem to love the game. Even the Final Fantasy loving web site RPGfan.com loved it.
And another thing, plenty of you loved playing Ghouls N Ghosts, Castlevania, Legacy Of Kain, and Chakan the Forever Man back in the day. All challenging games indeed like Bloodborne. But for some reason because its on the PS4, you guys turn your noses up.

OK, I'm humbled. Those are impressive Mario numbers my friend. Do you mind providing links to those sales numbers? I'm sure those are worldwide numbers. Japan embraced the WiiU early on. Not so much for the PS4. With Mario sales like that you would think the WiiU would be dominant worldwide by now. And Super Mario U was released before the PS4 launch. Mario 3D world launched the same month as the PS4. The WiiU already had a respectable user base. The PS4 was just getting started. Not making excuses for Sony, I'm just calling it as I see it.
3rd party support is crucial for success. Too bad Nintendo was to dumb and arrogant to understand this. 3rd parties dumped Nintendo like a Chicago pimp dumping a useless worn out whore. Nintendo should have bent over backwards to keep third party support. The mainstream casual gamer is who keeps the business going. That is a fact. Thats why we will never see another Shenmue and that alone kills me. Madden, Assassins Creed, GTA, Call of Duty, etc are huge money makers and people willing to spend that kind of money want the most popular, best technological and capable platform to enjoy it on, and the WiiU isn't it. Its like the PS2 and Dreamcast all over again minus the DC piracy. Additionally Nintendo needs to drop the prepubescent stigma like they did with the SNES "Play it Loud" marketing program. Bayoneetta and the rumored US release of the WiiU's Fatal Frame (fingers crossed) isn't enough. I guess Reggie is too stupid or sheepish to consider that.

As for third party support, I think part of the problem there was with misreading the market and making bad decisions on the part of a lot of third party devs. Just look at EA's "testing" of the market. They put out Madden 13 and Fifa 13, but they were severely gimped ports that were worse than the 360 and PS3 versions and they came out later. Mass Effect 3 while a great port was released for $60 the same week they released the Trilogy set for every other platform for $40. And Need for Speed came out months later after all hype had died for it. None of those are really good or fair market tests.

Looking at the regional breakdown, New Super Luigi U outsold it in the US...

The GameCube got lucky because the mini discs were practically impossible to pirate. Sales number were still abysmal, Nintendo re-branded the GameCube as the Wii and lucky for them it was a casual gaming waggle fest hit.
Look dude, numbers don't lie. The truth hurts doesn't it? Try living in reality where money and sales is king in the dog eat dog console world. That is unfortunate, but true.

Yes, but those third party sales on the PS4 aren't that far off from Nintendo's first party sales. CoD, Fifa, and GTA V are the highest in the 5-6 million range, then it drops down to Destiny at ~4 Million which is around both New Super Mario Bros. U and Mario Kart 8.Quote:

There's really not enough on one or the other to make having both worthwhile right now. I won't have a reason to get a PS4 for awhile. And you, owning a PS4, yeah, I see little reason to get an xb1 for awhile. Maybe by next holiday season.
Let's also not forget that just about every game showed off at E3 for these two systems has later had a significant graphical downgrade.

Well, I think there's a difference between tech demo and actual games. we always had tech demos like the ball room scene on the PS2, or the FF7 intro on the PS3, etc. But we all knew they were tech demos and were basically pushing things that probably wouldn't be applicable in a real game.Quote:

My friend showed me a bunch of Bloodborne videos and it looks so dark, gritty, brown/grey, and the gameplay reeks of BORING to me. Another one of my friends was all into the souls games and I used to watch him play and think "This looks less fun that waiting in line at the post office". I don't get it.
