The thread of religion

I believe in randomness and order.

The coldest possible temperature in the universe is -273.15 degrees Celsius and the hottest possible temperature is 1.417*10^32 degrees Celsius (as far as we know).

So, obviously we live in a very cold place. Cold enough for the subatomic particles to slow down and form the matter that makes us and let us perceive our own existence for a brief moment before randomness takes over again.

That's how I see life. A perfect (for us) balance between randomness and order. I really don't feel the need for having a "Creator" or "Higher Being" in my life, but I can understand why others do. It's easier to grasp.

God gave mankind free will. Bad things happen to people not because of God, but because we allow them to happen. God gave mankind the Earth to care for it so it's only as good or bad as we have managed it. Jesus says to love your neighbor as yourself but often, we fail to do that. Even though manking turned it's back on God, He still sent Jesus as a sacrifice in our place because He loves us. But He respects our free will and does not force it on anyone.

Life is a chaotic mess full of people who all want their own way, that's why they invented religion. to shame/scare people into doing what they want.
You don't need religion to be happy, and it seems like religion has caused you more damage than actually help you.
My suggestion is you actually break with religion and realize that your mental problems stem from the whole "we'll shame/scare you into doing what we want" thing.
I'v seen it MANY times before, they brainwash you into being ashamed and scared about everything you do, GOD SEES EVERYTHING and shit. to the point where life just doesn't make sense.

Break away from it, focus on life without that fear of religion. religion is supposed to help us deal with the sometimes harsh reality of existence. but its clearly not helping you but hurting you.

Break away and focus on life, not life according to religion. but just life.. build a bird house, paint something. play a relaxing video game that doesn't deal with religion (I suggest Monkey Island on ScummVM)
You can't change the way the world works, that's something we all have to accept at one point.

Break from it, and become your own person without the whole "but I identify as a religious person." if God is real than he wouldn't want you suffering like that, he'd want you to go out and enjoy life and learn and grow.
don't focus on those religious rules, you know the difference between right and wrong. go out into the world and actually grow as a person.

God is necessary, but in a forum it is not easy to talk about.

Basically look to Catholicism for answers and run away from Pentecostalism there, they believe that God has interaction with men, OK the problem is if the person says that God is telling him to say this or that, if you believe he will be free to control you.

He's obviously confused as fuck and trying to find answers, but the answers he want can only be found by just participating in life and not out of some old book.
He needs to stop going to priests and shrinks and whatnot. he just needs to get a normal job and work 9 to 5 and maybe meet a girl. and NOT think about everything from a religious standpoint.
He needs to let go of all that stuff and just live! that's not denouncing god or whatnot, that's just giving his mind the chance to grow up. something we all went through at that age.
then at a later age, after his 30th birthday or something he can always sit back and ask himself if he'd like to get back in touch with his beliefs. and he can make that decision as an adult with adult experiences.
not as he is now, a confused young man who's trying to fit a square block into a round hole and growing ever more frustrated that it doesn't fit.

Trust me Jeckidy, I've seen this end badly.. I've seen friends kill themselves or succumb to alcohol or break away from their family simply because religion drove them insane.
just step back from it all for a while, God won't be angry. Life isn't some sort of race with who can rake up the most years of faithfulness.

Sometimes you just need to gain some life experience before you can tackle complicated stuff like religion and our place in the universe.

I'm not staunchly against religion. I'm not marching for it either. Religion has brought more hatred and wars and death than anything. It also has brought a lot of great music and hospitals and some amazing structures. I'm down the middle on it but the concept of god was an invention by people looking for an answer to questions they could not answer or understand the real one. When you don't understand how a world works, invent the answer. It's easier. Even nonreligious people do this even in small trivial ways. Sometimes the invented answer angered people to kill women for being a witch...or a dude wanted a divorce. I won't even dive into the science that disproves everything religion preaches. Meanwhile, I still find it hilarious Christian moms in the 2000s preaching how evil Harry Potter was because it was about a kid who did magic and sorcery when their entire religion centers around a man who did magic and sorcery.


I won't hate on religious people as long as they don't go out of their way to be a zealot/bigoted hate spreading POS like most Republicans and every evangelist. Yeah, I know sounds like irony the way I often talk about them. Difference is I won't go to where they live and shove it in their face. I just have my beliefs and keep a distance. I also feel there is a fine line between religion and cult. It can be blurry sometimes. Evangelists if they are not a cult they teeter very much one way on that line. My mom is a wonderful person and is Mormon. A lot of misconceptions about them but I still don't agree with them and most things. We get along just fine. We know where we stand and leave it at that.

It's a boring answer but I dislike many things about religion but also like many things it has brought us. So I'm just in the middle mostly. With all that said. People will find a reason to fight over anything. Peopel spew hatred over what wrestling show or what console you play on. We just find an excuse to fight. :/

If you want to believe in god. Whatever,fine. Just don't knock on my door and try to sell it to me.

Take this with a grain of salt, because I’ve never suffered sexual abuse and I think the Catholic Church is pretty much evil to the core.

No offense dude, but you do sound pretty unstable. All I’m getting out of what you’re saying is “He made me feel such-and-such, he’s wicked!” No one is responsible for how you FEEL. Seems like you’re blaming everyone around you for your own thoughts which come from YOUR OWN MIND. They aren’t planted there by evil Catholics, mustache-twirling psychologists, or the devil. ^^^^^^Tells someone his comments are not facts and then goes on to act as if his own comments are factual? The icing on the cake is having the individual, who was told he doesn't need religion, say otherwise.

I do not believe in a God in a biblical sense, all that Ten Commandments bollocks is just that, bollocks, but I do believe in an afterlife and that we have a soul. I've researched and read too many accounts of OBEs (out of body experiences) and NDEs (near death experiences) to believe anything else.
