I compensate for room resonance mainly, bass is insanely loud at normal level. The great drop takes out the booming that will happen otherwise. 125 and 250 have a rise as all the juicy bass sounds are there, the dip at 1K in for making the singing and guitars less pronounced, I care for other stuff a lot more.
As for speech if there is need, I use the dials on the amp, less hassle than messing around on the EQ. The mids knob has a quite large range and works well.
My speakers also have dials on them for highs and mids, but these are kept at the max.
I do wish for a 30 band EQ, and I will build one at some point, those things are really really great !

Most (if not all) 16x9 tv's have a button to cycle between aspect ratio's, this way gamers can use a 16x9 screen in 4x3 mode for their Snes/Genesis and in 16x9 mode for their ps2/xbox.

Only thing that happens in 4x3 mode is that you'll have black bars on the side, but the image is still 4x3 and on crt.

This is my setup in the livingroom. It has an Xbox 360 Elite (with an HD-DVD player) and BC PS3. The audio setup is DTS 5.1 surround. The LCD is a 52" Samsung @ 120 hz.

Sli that GTX 570 TurboRotary. They aren't that expensive now.

I think we have the same TV, TurboRotary. I don't use it for retro games, though. I have a standard definition CRT with component for anything pre-Dreamcast. Dreamcast is hooked to the Panasonic via component (the VGA input sucks).

I run my Dreamcast with the VGA box into a VGA to HDMI converter.. It works very well. The Genesis is SCART to YUV then to the receiver.. I am having some issues with deinterlacing with that set up... I want to pick up a XRGB to fix that issue.. Also for the scanline emulation.. MMMmmmmm.

Thanks man. I'm slowly but surely building my little slice of heaven on Earth. There are still some key components missing but I'm pretty happy with it. I definitely can't complain.

Nope.. Panasonic bought all of the plasma tech from Pioneer a few years ago but has yet to implement any of it yet.. I think they really bought it to keep it out of the hands of their competitors. The VT series is the closest thing to a Kuro on the market nowadays though. With the way Panasonic has been doing lately they may not even be in the TV business for very much longer.. :(

SLI support has been pretty good. I've been running my GTX 460s in SLI for 2 years now and had very few issues with the setup. I run Far Cry 3 on high to very high settings @1080p and the fps has been pretty solid.
