I bought one of these a few months ago for around $65 USD as something to experiment with, not as a serious replacement for any system. I have it hooked up to a low quality 22 inch HDTV via composite, it doesn't look very good on it, but neither do original systems, so I can't give an accurate comparison to how it would look on a nice CRT.
The stock controllers it comes with are nice quality 6 button MD pads but with a SNES layout. I do like the fact I can use MD pads on the SNES and NES side (or vice versa). The audio quality of the MD side is much, much better than the shitty GOAC in the RetroN3. GBA support with the adapter is nice especially since it requires no additional cables.
Although I would not consider it a viable alternative to a real Genesis for myself it's probably the best quality clone barring the RetroN5. I personally play too much SMS, CD, & 32x games along with using peripherals to shelve my Genesis for it. It's not garbage like the AT Games stuff and is an improvement over a lot of previous clones but isn't perfect. As long as you have reasonable expectations and don't overpay you'll probably enjoy it.
