The real life Jeffry Mcwild in the flesh
So I'm a pretty big MMA fan. Recently I've gotten deeply interested in the roots of MMA in Japanese pro wrestling in the early 90's. MMA basically evolved out of Japanese pro wrestling. There was a promotion called "Fighting Network Rings" back in the early 90's that was a big part of that evolution. I ordered a bunch of Rings shows on DVD recently. I was watching a random Rings show from 1992 this morning and seen the real life inspiration for the Jeffry character from Virtua Fighter:

His name is Willie Williams. This is what he looks like in the Rings video game for SNES(Super Famicom):

And this is Jeffry from Virtua Fighter:

Too sweet. I learned something awesome today. Hopefully Sega paid this man because not only do they look the same but they are very similar in their fighting styles and personalities/mannerisms. Now that I'm starting to think about it I'm pretty sure Akira from Virtua Fighter was loosely based on Akira Maeda from Rings as well. Needless to say, I'm falling in love with Rings. It's like real life Virtua Fighter! In the flesh! I shit my pants when I seen this dude, "Holy shit, THAT'S JEFFRY!".
