The Gaming Historian happens to be a huge Ristar fanboy. Anyone who likes Ristar is clearly a highly intelligent, well informed person :p.
Nice video to have my Saturday morning coffee to. This is one of those topics in game history that I always enjoy hearing more about. This is probably one of the best videos he's made and definitely the best one I've seen on the topic.
What a world it might have been if Sega had won the bid for Atari Games.
Surprisingly the "Nintendo can do no wrong" trolling is pretty much non-existent in the comments. There's a little bit but it's just an idiot or two trying to get a rise out of people.
Thanks for posting. Looking forward to watching this.
This battle was, as far as I can recall, pretty much glossed over in Steven L. Kent's "The Ultimate History Of Video Games", so it was nice to hear a much more in depth account
That was great mate, thanks for posting. Really interesting stuff.
Excellent thread. I'd rep you, but I must spread it around before doing so. ;)
I finally had time to watch this. Thanks again for posting it here. I had already subscribed to the guy but somehow missed a ton of his uploads. Probably because I confused him with someone else.
The topic was covered in David Sheff's excellent book Game Over which I recommend to everyone even remotely interested in video games. You can tell the book was written in a time when Japan had a similar status to China nowadays but aside from that it is an excellent and well-researched book, much better than almost anything that came after it, sadly. :?
The Ultimate History of Video Games borrows some of it stories from Game Over and Herman's Phoenix, the rise and fall of video games. I have both books.
The Ultimate History of Video Games is the one to own. It covers everything that the previous books do, along with newer consoles like the PS2 and Xbox.
